He was elected in 2014. He took office in January of 2015.
In 2016, the Maryland legislature passed a law that any replacement appointed by the Governor had to be the same party as the person they replaced.
Paul Wellstone was a leftist progressive Democrat.
Nice phrase (which by the way doesn't appear in the referenced quote), but what exactly are you "forgiving" Cummings for? What did he to do you that you are in a position to "forgive"? Oh, and note that he didn't acknowledge anything he did that requires "forgiveness" and he didn't ask for your forgiveness (although, hopefully, he had time before he died to confess and ask God's forgiveness for the harm he caused to others in his position of power and authority for so many years).
You may think my comments harsh, but my purpose is to point out the widespread misunderstanding of what "forgiveness" is ... what it requires ... and who is involved. No offense intended.
On the plus side, he won't have any heating bills where he's going.
God has issued the Trump Zot. ;-)
Not sure when the breakoff point is
Either way, expect some other Baltimore Swamp Rat to end up in this seat,
I hear Marilyn Mosby is available
I should have read your post, digger!
I thought the Governor was able to appoint.
He finally retired!
It’s to bad he didn’t have obunghole care!
They all are going to escape. No one is going to jail. The swamp is still strong.
Somewhere in Baltimore I suppose there’s a school, or park, highway, etc. that needs to be renamed, ir a statue that needs to be erected I say oh so cynically.
I will say only this: They are called Commandments for a reason. Time to meet the maker.
Good remarks from you.
There is a reason that they are Commandments, not suggestions.
House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell E. Issa accuses his Democratic counterpart, Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, of colluding with the IRS to attack one of the tea party groups that was targeted by the tax agency for intrusive scrutiny and long delays.
True The Vote is going to have a going-away party for ee cummings. ;-)
no, the office is vacant until the next election, but now they have to run a primary. Also, the new rep will not have any seniority so the district will not get much in funding next year.
Carolyn Maloney is the acting chair for the rest of the term per Wikipedia.
“..Who is next? Ruth Bader Ginsburg? Nancy Pelosi?....”
The Reaper is in the House. He’s got this one. Perhaps he could make it a “four-fer”: the vile, demonic Botoxian, little Ruthie G and that communist, fast-a$$ Nadler. Satan would be totally PO’d to see four of finest showing back up in hell all at once.
It would be a great day for America.
He escaped justice in this life but the Bible says, “It is appointed for man to die once and after this the judgement.”
Escaping judgement on this earth is certainly dissatisfying to many of us but the Lord says, “Vengeance is mine.” On this we must have faith.
Every death is a “health complication”.
just another of the veto-proof legislature's ways to hamstring a Republican governor. He's an R in name only and a Trump hater, but still an R.
