“We are seeing the scale and scope of something that no state in the 21st century should experience,” Gov. Gavin Newsom said speaking Thursday in Mather, Calif. “What’s happened is unacceptable, and it has happened because of neglect.”

Unbelievable! What hubris!!

It takes electricity to run those big windmills.

I do not understand how all of a sudden wind and electricity create fires?

They turned of the power in the heavily wooded areas because in high wind the power lines can go down and spark a fire in the extremely dry grass. It has not rained yet, it generally does not rain between May - October, there is lots of fuel to burn. The last two big fires in Northern Cali were from downed power lines in high wind.

I live in CA.. When my power was out for two days last week, I had no phones. My AT&T cell phones were out as well as my house phone. I had no way of knowing if there was a fire coming at me, no way of calling 911 in case of an emergency; oh, and we had NO WIND. NONE!

Unfortunately this lowlife will be out of office at the time power outages and brownouts begin to decimate New York, Connecticut and New Jersey.

The people in those states are getting what they voted for.

Thanks for the report from Ground Zero. I’m sure you and millions of others were endangered due to this stupidity!

That’s terrible. Is it possible to develop a plan for survival if it all comes tumblin’ down?

“The state’s three big investor-owned utilities now have regulatory permission to cut off power to parts ...”

That explains why the utilities could do it without worrying about getting sued.

Even better would have been to have gotten regulatory permission to leave the power on and not have to worry about getting sued.

“PG&E (PCG) is the largest California utility. While PG&E and the other California utilities are generally investing in renewables largely because they’ve been forced to, PG&E offers solid returns and is in fact the U.S. leader in ownership of renewables. Utility stocks offer safe returns, and PG&E also offers a dividend to sweeten the pot.”

CA has priorities, and providing electricity to residents is much lower than glowbull climate change. You CA'ians understand this.

PGE claims might cost $150 Billion to trim their power lines. Is that what a few choppers and some chain saws cost?

That causes sparks and fires in dry areas.

...areas which enviros prevent sensible management, clearing, logging etc to remove the kindling.

It's mostly on Gav & gov., imho. Regardless, citizens and businesses will leave the already drug infested, crumbling, corrupt, democrat controlled, overtaxed, over priced slice of heaven. Ruined.

The Reagan area conservative pendulum swung far left for far too long, and will now begin to swing back.

"Who is John Galt?"

"And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:" Acts 2:17.

They say Ayn Rand was an atheist. But. I think she was seeing a bit of the future in that story.!
