Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards, a Democrat, will face a Republican candidate in a runoff after he failed to get more than 50 percent of the vote in Saturday's "jungle primary" in his GOP-friendly state.
President Donald Trump rallied on Friday in the state to support the Republican candidates on the eve of the election, calling Edwards "a liberal Democrat who has sold you out." The jungle primary meant that instead of top candidates of each party facing off one-on-one, any number of candidates from any part could compete for a final against the top two.
On Friday Trump asked both Republican candidates, Rep. Ralph Abraham and businessman Eddie Rispone, to join him on stage to offer brief remarks. Rispone will face Edwards after narrowly edging out Abraham.

Abraham already endorsed the other guy and promised to support him.
Great great news... Louisiana good job so far...
ya think ?
So crazy to think that for a deep red state. I find it disheartening to see the south going purple. Why doesnt blue state go purple?
“David Vitter had his “D.C. Madam” problem.”
Vitter had that “problem” but still won his first senatorial election. When he ran for governor, the RINOs defeated him.
“Dont know why they dont get rid of his jungle primary BS.”
The system is not that much different from presidential primaries.
I thought the rolling blackouts would help against wildfires, you mean this is a hoax?
Vitter was going to clean up the profound level of corruption in Red Stick City, and that was an unforgiveable sin to both Demonrats and his Derp State RINO opponents back in 2015. Any sex scandal was a smokescreen. We’ve seen how Dems throw that out at the drop of a hat.
Not New Awlins but rather a rally in Alexandria. (in the center of the state)
The blackouts were in Northern California. I am in Los Angeles County which has had fires scattered about throughout the weekend 100,000 people evacuated, two dozen homes destroyed, freeways closed, and smoke dispersing everywhere including in the heart of the city. Some outages here and there also.
Ive only had to deal with the smoke part. But its pretty bad. Headache is gone but throat still hurts.
But hey, a bunch of Illinoisans think we should abolish the office of Lt. Governor after New Jersey went thru five Governors in a week due to not having an office of Lt. Governor, so....
Thanks fieldmarshaldj.
