The only tarif cancelled was the planned increase from 25-30%.

We are winning all around in Phase 1 negotiations.

Trump is kicking ass.....after the election in Phase 3, the political nat security stuff will be pressed.

No cave, we win...and Ag wins with pork, wheat, rice and soybeans and much more.

What about soybeans? Part of my income that I have absolutely no control over comes from soybeans. I have purposely avoided even looking at the price so that I wouldn’t get upset over something I can’t control

[The Dems are going to make hay out of this big time.]

The Dems talk a good game, but when was the last time a Democrat actually imposed an across-the-board tariff on China?

Well, not sure about the rust belt, but getting China to stop manipulating their currency should be good news for American steel.

As to big ag?
1. Seventy percent of all farms are run by old-timers, retired with supplemental income, or those that supplement their farm income with a second job.
2. Women run 36% of all farms and over half of farms have a woman as a principal decision-maker.
3. A bright future in farming with ever-widening markets is the best enticement to get new, younger farmers behind a tractor.

Fast facts:

only 2.2% of farms are non-family farms. Non-family farms account for only 5.7% of all grain/soybean production

large-scale family farms comprise 2.5% of all farmers and produce 30% of all grain/soybeans. The rest is grown by small to midsize family farmers.

Overall, family farms account for 97% of all farming

Retiree farms comprise over 30% of all farms
Farmers that farm as a second job comprise 40% of all farms
Small farms, with sales less than $150K, comprise 32% of all farms and moderate farms, with sales below $400K are 5.7%

retirement farms, part-time farming and truck farms either sell locally, or join a cooperative/contractor that buys some or all of their production. About 17% of soybeans are grown under contract.

IIRC, the farmers are being subsidized out of the incoming tariff monies. Pricing, no matter what, is still dictated by the farmers. AND according to my source...many of them play the market.

I'd just look up the pricing.

Soy bean pricing is more than just the tariffs.

Obviuosly not a big part of your income or you would do a little research.

Farming is $180B out of a $22T GDP. That is insignificant but somehow that sector wields disproportional political influence through big ag lobbying. Like I said farming just isn’t that big or important yet they( big babies) require subsidies and anyone that supports this scam is a hypocrite capitalist. Republicans would do well to ditch them and pick up blue collar workers in the rust belt which are 10x - 12x in number of snowflake tractor monkeys.

Like all Republicans, Romney sucks up to bu ag and their subsidized tractor monkey army. You can’t put me in that club.

Nope....just cancels the 5% increase, based on the fact that that Trump has the Chinese grovelling for a deal.

BTW, all of the systemic things in this deal plus the currency manipulation items will be great for manufacturing in the US.

The slave labor factory stuff, will simply go to Indonesia, India and Malaysia.

But, we can get some manufacturing back that is niche based and takes high tech calibration and patents etc.

Quit being such a negative nellie, you haven’t even read all of the reports on this yet.

It is a big part. However, I have absolutely no control whatsoever and just receive a check.

Thus, it does me no good to research it.

And actually does me more harm if it agitates me.

I research what I can control.

Not if we get a President with the cojones to put up a uniform across the board tariff. Trump is not gong to be that President. Sad.

Tariffs are not the goal, they are a tactic and negotiating chip.

If you think they are the goal, that explains your lack of reasoning on this subject.

Your premise would then be F’d.

From reading all of your posts here today it really seems that you are here just to sew discontent. Everything you are said is either a lie or intentionally misleading. From the quality of your discussion points I believe that you should return to DU where you would fit right in.
