... NAAGA now wants to push into politics. Its leaders hope the group will eventually have the same power and influence as the NRA.

Travis Campbell: “We can’t sit back and expect someone else to represent us better than we can represent ourselves.”

And now, this group wants to start funding politicians.

Politicians who hold their view that America needs little to no gun control.

Travis Campbell: “Any law that is passed is more likely to effect someone such as myself, a law-abiding citizen, more so than a mass shooter.”

They might want to change the name of the organization to something that won’t be at risk for misinterpretation when the acronym is pronounced.

My point of view is that African-Americans, above all others, should be opposed to gun control.

Go to Charleston, SC and walk around the residential area toward the battery. You will see a number of homes with high walls around them and 8-inch + steel spikes on top. The residents were terrified of a slave revolt.

How long do you suppose slavery would have lasted if the slaves had been armed??

“Only an armed people can be truly free. Only an unarmed people can ever be enslaved.” - Aristotle

" .....a secondary and very important function of NAAGA is to be active on social issues. By collectively working together with a defined strategy, we can begin correcting social injustice."

Never mind.

I was listening to the radio last weekend and there was a talk show with the NAAGA guy explain the organization, and it all sounds great, very pro-gun/safety/fun/positively social oriented, EXCEPT.....why black only? WTF? Really? I mean they sounded like a great group to hang out with, except it sounded like I’m not invited.

I presume you mean naggers. Stan Marsh finds them very annoying. This is too bad. These people have taken a heroic stance.

Because their very purpose is to contradict the stereotype that a black person with a gun is a criminal. This is a stereotype aggressively pushed by liberals, who presume that conservatives oppose black ownership of guns.

Nope, you probably wouldn’t be.

There was one woman in another article quoted as saying she’s “arming up to protect her family against White Supremacists”.

Why not just join the Black Panthers if that is your view?

I am sorry but by creating a black only shooting organization, that doesn’t help the stereotype of racism in my mind.

I briefly worked for a gun dealer years ago.

Some of our best customers were older black men who owned homes in parts of town where civilization had collapsed.

I wish NAAGA well.

Well I guess any 2nd amendment support is a help.

Weird name and practices aside, I suppose...

While I’m working, I listen to firearm related podcasts. Lock and Load with Bill Frady and We Like Shooting.
Quite often they have guests on their shows similar to this group, but not them specifically.
Black Guns Matter and Second is for Everyone are two off the top of my head.
I highly recommend these podcasts for anyone interested.

My personal image of a legal “gun owner” of any color is that of an American exercising his/her 2nd Amendment rights...

Anybody can join. You just have to be in support of gun rights and African American gun ownership.
