Turkish jets struck a Kurdish base near the Iraq-Syria border late Monday night, the first grim fruits of President Trumps decision to order US forces out of the way a decision we fear Trump will come to regret.
Well grant that the president is delivering on a campaign promise here: Like most Americans, he doesnt want this nation serving as the worlds policeman; other countries should share more of the burden when it comes to both troops and money.
Or, as he tweeted Monday, it is time for us to get out of these ridiculous Endless Wars.
He has a point, big-picture but hes making a big mistake here. Leaving Syria puts multiple US interests at risk. Hes not putting an end to endless wars, hes planting the seeds for future ones.

Trump is still free to give indirect aid to the Kurds. There just won’t be “boots on the ground”.
CC
Because the Kurds aligned themselves with the illegal Invaders of my Gov’t, the minority Kurds should be given control of a large part of a Country of 23 million. And that large swath of land should have a lot of the illegally invaded Country”s ol and water resources, too?
I have said for years, the Kurds are stupid to trust the US.
Well, they are not only stupid, but delusional.
Post Vietnam, being a third world US ally has been a very precarious position. Its a function of our own internal political strife caused by a radical left, and hidden deep state. Nothing is quite as it appears on the surface, and is subject to political change
The lesson is: dont trust Fed.gov
How many children of the Post Editorial Board are over there fighting? Asking for a friend.
The United States was supposed to be in Syria for 30 days, that was many years ago. We stayed and got deeper and deeper into battle with no aim in sight. When I arrived in Washington, ISIS was running rampant in the area. We quickly defeated 100% of the ISIS Caliphate,.....
....including capturing thousands of ISIS fighters, mostly from Europe. But Europe did not want them back, they said you keep them USA! I said NO, we did you a great favor and now you want us to hold them in U.S. prisons at tremendous cost. They are yours for trials. They.....
.....again said NO, thinking, as usual, that the U.S. is always the sucker, on NATO, on Trade, on everything. The Kurds fought with us, but were paid massive amounts of money and equipment to do so. They have been fighting Turkey for decades. I held off this fight for....
....almost 3 years, but it is time for us to get out of these ridiculous Endless Wars, many of them tribal, and bring our soldiers home. WE WILL FIGHT WHERE IT IS TO OUR BENEFIT, AND ONLY FIGHT TO WIN. Turkey, Europe, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Russia and the Kurds will now have to.....
...figure the situation out, and what they want to do with the captured ISIS fighters in their neighborhood. They all hate ISIS, have been enemies for years. We are 7000 miles away and will crush ISIS again if they come anywhere near us!

“A catastrophic mistake,” said Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming, the No. 3 House Republican leader.
“Shot in the arm to the bad guys,” said Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.
When there are no good actors in the region, what’s the alternative.
We will no longer be the world's baby sitter.
After twenty years, if you still haven't learned to defend yourself, you deserve subservience.
WE did it the hard way once upon a time and true education IS actually learning something and not just parroting back the answers.
If we didnt have troops there now, would we have a good reason to send them?
I dont think so, and if not, then we should leave.
The reality is President Trump moved about 25 american special ops troops back and out of the way of an attack.
Most of the people trying to make political hay out of this have no clue what they are talking about and have never been to Turkey or anywhere near the Kurds.
OMG, we can't betray the Kurds even though half of them are outright Communists, a quarter of them are loyal to Iran, and the remaining quarter are in it for the $200 and three cartons of cigarettes they're paid every month.
When the Turks start gassing them bomb the Turks. Otherwise let the Turks, Iranians, Syrians, Iraqis, and Kurds finish this fight they've been having off and on, with the parties shifting who they're allied with from time to time, for at least the past thousand or so years.
Were talking 25 troops
“Endless War!”
As long as the area remains Islamic you are going to have plenty of endless warfare. The best thing the world could do is seal off the Islamic lands and stop trading with them . Let the Jihadi’s earn their Virgins by killing each other for being in the wrong sect.
Phasing out- yes. Abandoning the Kurds? Bad. Very bad. Even worse yo turn them
Over yo the tender mercies of the Turkish madman Erdogan. Hes very dangerous and nuts. He will try yo murder as many Kurds as he can. I think we need to make sure the Kurds have a defensible position - we shouldnt just set them up for the slaughter
We are in a very slow moving world war against Islam which could last a century or more. The more the jihadis take power and land overseas, the more they see the US as weak and ready for harvest and the more we will see the rise of Omars and Talibs here in the states until they achieve they victory they crave in years, decades or longer. All because people were “tired” of seeing US troops fighting overseas for years.
And so the US became just another failed Islamic state. War never changes it just moves at different speeds at different times. Islam never surrenders or grows tired.
