President Trump on Monday dug in on his decision to pull U.S. troops out of Syria as Turkey prepares an operation in the region, while members of his own party lined up to criticize the move.
Speaking to reporters in the Roosevelt Room of the White House, Trump said he has "great respect" for the prominent Republicans who are urging him to reconsider his strategy, but that "it's time to come back home."
"We’ve been there for many, many, many years beyond what we were supposed to be. Not fighting. Just there. Just there. And it’s time to come back home," Trump said.
"But I can understand the other side of it," he continued. "But if you go by the other side, that means we should never, ever come home."
The president lamented that the most difficult aspect of his job is writing letters to the families of soldiers killed overseas. He described writing to families of soldiers killed by mines or snipers, calling it "devastating."
“We’re willing to do what we have to do, but there has to be an endgame," he said. "And if you stay, it’s going to be the same thing. Eventually you’re going to have to leave."

Meghan McCain rips Trump, GOP on Syria decision: 'You feckless, unpatriotic cowards'
"I've been so mad this morning and so upset about this news that we are abandoning our Kurdish allies in the Middle East," McCain said after warning viewers she was about to "go rogue."
"These are allies of ours that American soldiers are still continuing to fight alongside," she added. "All we did was arm them and they fought for America, and right now, we're just saying we're just going to leave them and abandon them."
"To everyone in the White House and every Republican who was mad that President Obama pulled out of Iraq: you feckless, unpatriotic cowards," McCain concluded. "I cannot believe this is where we're at diplomatic-wise. What message is this sending to our allies who have fought alongside us and American troops who have fought and died for this?"

Where would the CIA get their heroin from if we left Afghanistan? Oops, I am starting to see why the deep state hates him.
I’m good with it. There is no need for us to be in Syria. We need to have the ability to deal with groups like ISIS remotely and be able to quickly engage the threat and then withdraw with limited to no humans on the ground. I know that is easier said that done but we can’t continue to camp out in these s-hole countries forever.
It’s also time to remove any nukes remaining at Incirlik.
I had thought that would have been done years toago, but I can’t find any mention of it in a Google search.

The only drawback to this is that the Press will consider this proof positive that Trump is a Russian puppet.
