Trump Hits Back At Lindsey Graham: If You Think It Was Weak Not To Bomb Iran, Remind Yourself How Iraq Turned Out

My favorite thing about Trump is how little he gives Graham on foreign policy despite Graham kissing his ass relentlessly in hopes of turning him into a hawk. It’s commendable on the merits, in that Trump’s reluctance to wage war is a welcome corrective to the McCain/Graham-style of hyperinterventionism that ruled the GOP for years. But it’s also gratifying on a gut level, even as a Trump skeptic. “One of Trump’s more likable qualities is his penchant for publicly humiliating all the lickspittle Republicans who try and ride his coattails,” writes C.J. Ciaramella of Reason, remembering how Chris Christie was treated during the 2016 campaign. It’s true! What could be more enjoyable than watching Graham toady to the president day and night after dismissing him as a “kook” and a national security threat in 2016, believing that it will buy him influence over foreign policy, and as his reward having him endure daily reminders that Trump is far more inclined towards Rand Paul’s fopo views than Lindsey’s?

The Bush family became wealthy dealing with the Saudis in the oil business. So instead of holding the 9/11 Saudis accountable, Bush invaded their enemy Iraq. Despite having all that wealth and a huge cache of America’s most sophisticated weaponry the 9/11 Saudis cannot defeat starving Yemini rebels or defend themselves. Trump has to do business with them but he is not Bush and understands their vile nature.

Iran is striking out in the Gulf and at the 9/11 Saudis because the sanctions are working and devastating their economy. If the mullahs and the 9/11 Saudis want to fight, there will be temporary disruptions to the world oil market but eventually the oil will flow. No American human or material treasure should be sacrificed. Good opportunity for the US to unravel from the Mideast entanglement.

I agree with Washington’s advice and I wish we could follow it. The world has gotten a lot smaller since then.

Wash didn’t deal with religious fanatics developing nuclear weapons and ICBMs

Trump is emulating Reagan instead of Bush. Reagan stayed clear of Middle East wars, wmeven after our marines were killed by terrorists. The neocons denounced him for “showing weakness”. They were more successful with George Bush - he took the kind of advice you’re giving. It destroyed his presidency and elected Barack Obama

Reagan pretty much destroyed the Iranian Navy and multiple oil platforms. Trump should do the same.

[Yes..emulating Reagan and emulating George Washington who urged in his Farewell Address for USA to avoid foreign entanglements.]

That would be Reagan, the enthusiastic supporter of NATO, who positioned Pershing nuclear missiles in Germany so any Soviet invasion would trigger an all-out nuclear war obliterating tens of millions of Americans? Reagan, the man who invaded Grenada to depose the Marxist dictatorship that had just taken over? Reagan, the man who funded the Nicaraguan contras illegally, triggering the appointmentof the second Special Prosecutor ever in the nation’s history? Here’s the reality - in Washington’s time, it took months to cross the Atlantic, the range of an enemy’s guns was a couple of miles and the blast radius was a few dozen yards. Today, a city-killing nuclear-tipped ballistic missile from North Korea can reach Dayton, Ohio in under an hour.

You sound like Bush explaining why we had to invade Iraq.

Flimsey was in up to his neck in the dossier dissemination.
He wanted to be chairman to block his involvement in the coup from coming out.

The question isn’t what i sound like. The point is i have accurately described Iran.

Saddam was a dictator keeping his country under control. The Imams think it iOS their moral obligation is to end the world and bring on the final Imam. How many times do they have to sink boats, kill people, support and plan terrorism and threaten us and our allies before you wake the hell up. That’s the difference between them and Saddam.

He always wins SC. Watch how he does the primary. He floods the firms and wins with a plurality then he walks through Election Day into a permanent republican seat.

Yes the question is what you sound like. Bush said Saddam was a clear and present threat to the US. You - and Bush’s neocon followers - today say the same thing about Iran. And it’s no more true.

I’m a Reaganite. Unlike Bush he defeated enemies without war.

Apparently the Middle East is populated exclusively with retarded people. Iran is run by imams who think it is their duty to end the world, and yet their neighboring countries are filled with people who aren’t fleeing for their lives.

Trump is navigating foreign policy from a position of strength, and as such can take his time in deciding if and when, and in which manner, to strike Iran. It is the weak leader who allows himself to be goaded into ill-thought-out action for the sake of appearance. President Trump is not weak.

The neighboring countries are fully of muslims from various sects.

The issue is not that they believe too it is that Iran leaders believe it and they threaten us, not some of their neighbors. The believers next door will benefit from the Imam’s arrival.

I don’t have time or energy to remediate you further, but your illogic and ignorance for the issue is startling. Or are you just reluctant to stop this runaway train.

We’ve been at this too long.

linda maintains his senate seat because SC has open primaries. The rats cross over in the primary to make sure linda wins. Then, because SC is a very red state, linda wins the general. As long as SC has open primaries linda has a job.

I approach this from the perspective of someone who recognizes that our government is filled with corrupt @ssholes from top to bottom. It’s a very AMERICAN attitude I have. There’s nothing illogical or ignorant about it.

It’s what convinced me to support Donald Trump in 2016.

Let the Saudis fight this; let the Brits fight this; let the French, Germans and any other weak-kneed Euro trash fight this. Thanks to Donald Trump we are now INDEPENDENT from these cretins. Let others bleed out. I am sick and tired of my country being expected to do the heavy lifting in every skirmish. Do your damn selves. We've sold and provided you cowards the equipment i.e. fighters (F15s for the Saudis) to stand on your own two feet.

OR let the Israelis loose on those savages. Whatever the decision it's time that America let those affected do their own damn fighting. SICK OF IT....

When I came back from being in one of the episodes of this war in the Mideast a lot of people were saying it was a war for
Oil. As if it were a bad thing to admit. Like there was a secret. Like I had been party to some covert corruption

Of course it was a war for oil. Do we not depend on oil?

I said let’s get off of depending on those maniacs for oil.

Clinton increased our dependence on Mideast oil after desert storm.

Yet people - the same whiners- adored him

Of course Trump is doing the job that no corrupt president would do from Clinton through the Bushes to Obama.

Because Trump works for us. And because he is not an idiot prolonging our dependency. On these wackos like his addictive corrupt deceptive greedy weak predecessors

The only mystery is why do people hate him.
