I’m 13 and joining the Global Climate Strike on Friday. Here’s why you should, too
Sacramento Bee ^ | September 18, 2019 | Supriya Pate

When I am 25, I would like to live in an apartment in a city, own a pet beagle and spend copious amounts of time in coffee shops and used book stores. By this time, I’d also like to be closer to my dream of running for public office. But, most importantly, by the time I’m 25, I hope that the climate crisis hasn’t killed me.

Doomsdays that didn’t happen: Think tank compiles decades’ worth of dire climate predictions

The conservative-leaning Competitive Enterprise Institute has put together a lengthy compilation of apocalyptic predictions dating back decades that did not come to pass, timed as Democratic presidential candidates and climate activists refocus attention on the issue.

The dire predictions, often repeated in the media, warned of a variety of impending disasters – famine, drought, an ice age, and even disappearing nations – if the world failed to act on climate change.

An Associated Press headline from 1989 read “Rising seas could obliterate nations: U.N. officials.” The article detailed a U.N. environmental official warning that entire nations would be eliminated if the world failed to reverse warming by 2000.

Then there were the fears that the world would experience a never-ending “cooling trend in the Northern Hemisphere.” That claim came from an “international team of specialists” cited by The New York Times in 1978.

This is just an excerpt. Go to the link below for decades of lies documented of the end of the world due to weather or whatever:

Utah Senator Mike Lee evicerates the Green New Deal with awesome props.

If you haven’t seen this, all I can say is it’s worth it. Where else will you see a U.S. Senator using a picture of a Reagan riding a velociraptor shooting a machine gun as a prop for his speech denouncing a bill?

Dear Supriya: you are an idiot. But you’ve had lots of help. Seek out a school that will actually teach you something besides propaganda.

Normal 13 year olds talk about boys, music, clothes, and beach vacations.

Worrying and writing about pseudoscience is not only a waste of time, it is selling your youth for magic beans. Surely you’ve heard of Jack and the Beanstalk?

Oh, and don’t miss the expressions on the face of the intern who’s putting up the graphics on the easel. She’s working hard to not completely burst out laughing.

I have never in my life sat in a coffee shop using wi-fi, and cannot imagine that being the goal in life for a 13 year old.

Maybe Supriya Pate's living in a fictional book world?

And figures e-access will make her a heroine or whatever she's "identifying" as at the moment.

.

And then, one Thursday, nearly two thousand years after one man had been nailed to a tree for saying how great it would be to be nice to people for a change, one girl sitting on her own in a small cafe in Rickmansworth suddenly realized what it was that had been going wrong all this time, and she finally knew how the world could be made a good and happy place. This time it was right, it would work, and no one would have to get nailed to anything.

Sadly, however, before she could get to a phone to tell anyone about it, a terribly stupid catastrophe occurred, and the idea was lost forever.

After My family and I are dead and gone. I hope that they do get rid of “fossil fuels” and get to see their wet dream come true.I also hope that they remove all carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. If that is what it takes to make them happy.

Definitely the school. Doubtful the parents. Parents don't do much teaching anymore. What are they going to teach?

90% of adults are too stupid to raise pets, much less, children. Mostly, they don't want to be bothered actually "raising" their kids.

Kids today are mostly motivated by peer influences. It's what those idiots are disseminating on twitter as the absurdity du jour is what they believe.

Kool Karen gets a tattoo? Everybody wants one. Etc.

if we could just get parents to teach their kids to read, that would be something.

Meanwhile, students across the globe will be studying their butts off, and will be eating folks like this’ lunches when it comes hiring time.
