Boris Johnson dramatically pulled out of a press conference in Luxembourg today after protests and an extraordinary spat with counterpart Xavier Bettel.
Protesters carrying messages including 'Bog Off Boris' first jeered the PM after showdown talks with EU commission president Jean-Claude Juncker over lunch at a restaurant.
And Mr Johnson then faced cat-calls from a crowd including British ex-pats as he arrived for a meeting with Luxembourg counterpart Xavier Bettel.
The stormy atmosphere led to Mr Johnson requesting the press call be held outside following their private discussions. It was originally planned to be held just yards from the demonstrations.
But in an extraordinary insult, Mr Bettel - whose country has a population of just 600,000 people - refused the request and decided to continue without Mr Johnson, leaving an empty podium beside him.
'Time is ticking,' he said. 'We need more than just words,'

I never could understand as a kid how my dad, WWII vet, hated Roosevelt so much. Now I do.
I can’t think of a more snooty and snotty country in the world than Luxembourg. Maybe Monaco if that counts as a country.
in my limited experience, a disproportionate number of british ex-pats are ex-london or ex-greater-london residents, educated, entitled, privileged, stubborn, sedentary in more ways than one, often to be found at ex-pat pubs, sitting in groups of their “peers,” usually consuming mass quantities of english ale, and in generally living with no visible means of support.
:^) It was so funny (found it by accident) that I used it for a pretext to ping an old topic that is, nevertheless, of modern historical interest.
