Nearly three-quarters of Americans see weather disasters, like Hurricane Dorian, worsening and most of them blame global warming to some extent, a new poll finds.
And scientists say theyre right.
The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research survey shows 72 percent of Americans think catastrophic weather is more severe, while 4 percent see it as less nasty. About one-quarter say those disasters are about as extreme as they always were.
Half of those who think weather disasters are worsening say its mainly because of man-made climate change, with another 37 percent who think natural randomness and global warming are equally to blame.
The poll was conducted in mid-August before Dorian formed, pummeled the Bahamas and put much of the US East Coast on edge.
We continue to loot our environment and it causes adverse weather, said John Mohr, a 57-year-old self-described moderate Republican in Wilmington, North Carolina, where he was bracing for Dorians arrival
This is climate change, though President Trump denies that it is, Tony Pagan, a 69-year-old retired electrician said as he and his wife finished packing to leave Wednesday. He needs to open his eyes.
Though shes weary of dealing with storms three of the past four years, Sandy Cason of Tybee Island said shes not ready to blame climate change. She noted Georgia got hit by several powerful hurricanes in the 1800s.
If you go back and read, its a cyclical thing. It really is, Cason said. If you read enough about the old storms, I dont think you can attribute the most recent storms to climate change.

Their narrative finding disaster where it isn't is comical.
Their narrative linking anything to global climate change is unrelenting.
I think it may be “worsening,” but due to sun spots, flares, etc. IMO man has nothing to do with the changes and can do nothing to stop them. The planet itself cycles just like all other living organisms.
EXACTLY what you said.
And now, every time it is going to rain over a few states or be hot over a few states, they have to say “30 million people are in the path of this disastrous weather.....”. With a few snarky innuendos that it is due to “climate change”, and also the fault of POTUS.
Even if it ends up the only 5 million people end up getting a half inch of rain.
Um, you know in the southern hemisphere its going to be Summer, right?

OMG. That means Climate Changers are Right!

Blood-filled eyeballs are spiking.
I just bought a climate change machine for my house, I think it’s called a Heat Exchanger.
I believe the quotation at the end of the article is 110% correct.
“Not everyone sees climate change making weather worse.
“Though shes weary of dealing with storms three of the past four years, Sandy Cason of Tybee Island said shes not ready to blame climate change. She noted Georgia got hit by several powerful hurricanes in the 1800s.
If you go back and read, its a cyclical thing. It really is, Cason said. If you read enough about the old storms, I dont think you can attribute the most recent storms to climate change.”
Its what they have constantly been told, over and over, in both lurid and simplistic reporting, by “trusted” media. Why wouldn’t they believe it?
The Donald very successfully diverted that Dorian thing away from Mar-a-Lago.
What power...
1960: Fla. had 8 House Reps.
2014: Fla. had 27 House Reps.
Here in the Seattle area we had a rabbit population explosion this summer. A long newspaper article on it and they talked about global warming, mild winter, etc. They neglected to mention that the rabbit population goes through a 7(?) year population boom/bust cycle.
We had a nice dry spring with slightly higher temps (low 70’s). This summer has been wetter and cooler than normal. It was nice not having the typical smoke-filled air from the wildfires. (Hmm - maybe that global cooling accounted for the dead rabbit in my backyard last week. That - or my dog killed it.)
I guess one would need to be 130 years old to remember the 1900 Great Storm that wiped out Galveston, Texas.
Now, now, let’s be fair. Here in San Diego, it got all the way up to 90 degrees and 77% humidity on Wednesday. It is practically against San Diego law to have greater than 25% humidity or to exceed 82 degrees after August 31. What ever shall we do?
(ducks projectiles thrown by FReepers living in places like Atlanta).
All I see worsening is non stop hyperbole
Most of the worse hurricanes happened before 1800.
The Hurricane of 1780 being the deadliest. Mitch in 1998 is the second worse, rain in Honduras caused deadly mudslides.
Most Americans are dumb. Most Americans are sheep. Most Americans are dumb sheep.
“Here, hold mah beer.”
Notice now on the weather they report the Heat Index, and not the actual temperature.
Thats for sure. Florida was going to be completely destroyed by Dorian according the the weather station. Even after the eye stayed in the ocean, they were saying Florida was in deep trouble. Looking back, I think its criminal. Id love to see how many heart attacks and strokes were caused by the exaggerated forecasts.
We had 70 degrees and clear in Tacoma, WA, today. Why wasn’t that reported in the NY Times or on ABC, CBS, or all the NBC pieces? Considering they report every bad thing in the world every day, this would have been news.
