Lee said, The commission would study reparation proposals. We would not dictate to the commission its design but, clearly, it would be designed for those descendants of slavery. Tragically, 250 years of slavery in the United States for those enslaved Africans did not receive workmans comp, salary, 401(k), or anything, and literally built the wealth of the United States and Europe. Thats why it was called the trans-Atlantic slave trade, taking enslaved Africans from Africa, frankly, from many parts of Africa. This commission would have the authority appointed by the President, the Majority Leader, the Speaker, and scholars, to really dig deep, something that we have never done before and to design the response.
She added, I think America is ready for this because of what we have been going through in the last couple of weeks, because of the attitude of our Commander-in-Chief, and because of what we have seen. The dastardly impacts of white nationalism, white supremacy, and outright racism that has impacted others but certainly has impacted over the decades and centuries African-Americans, the descendants of enslaved Africans.

Sheila wants her some white slaves to make up for something.
I never owned a slave, nor did any of my progenitors. Sod off, Sheila.
This ditz has always thought she is another Barbara Jordan.
I knew Barbara Jordan.
Jackson Lee is no Barbara Jordan*.
*I met her when I was very young, she was amazing.
She has that big fancy hairdo and I don’t have any hair. I demand rep-hair-ations.
That’s not quite how it works, Ma’am.
Check your pocket sized Constitution if you have one.
Can the millions of victims of black crime be exempted somehow? Sorta like getting robbed was maybe an advance payment on their reparation debt?
They need to get Warren to focus on this issue. Maybe shed back reparations for Indians.
Me either and neither did ANY of my ancestors! And as a matter of fact, Hungary only ever had ONE BLACK person living there and it was SO unusual, that a book was written about him!
Years ago visiting Ellis Island I saw a board on the wall that showed about 6% of all slaves from Africa ended up in the US (many before we were actually the official US)
Looking at where all the poor slaves ended up being sold around the world I can only hope the offspring of the ones that ended up here are doing the best ... land of the free, home of the brave ... and other cool slogans about who we are ...
Keep America Great
Yeah, we’ll get right on that Sheila, as soon as you go, and retrieve that flag you claim we planted on Mars. Have a nice trip!
It's a given that "unwittingly" is her modus operandi.
250 years of slavery in a country less than 250 years old, that ended slavery over 150 years ago. M’kay.
How about the Irish slaves the Brits transported to the New World before Africans? Their descendants were forced to work in dangerous police/fire work or suffer the indignity of being politicians.
As a Mick, I want my share of reparations. We were brought here first. We should get the loot first.
That is literally not true. One of the big reasons the remaining USA was able to defeat the CSA was because its economy was much wealthier and stronger due to innovation due to lack of slavery. The North's economy was far more diversified, but even with the agriculture sector alone, it was far, far more productive than that of the South. Slavery held the wealth and economic progress back - significantly back - if those areas that practiced it - not the other way around.
Quite creative, isn't it?
Hey congresscritter, we’ve got your reparations right here. Come on down, you ignorant......
Should’ve picked our own damned cotton.
“I never owned a slave, nor did any of my progenitors...
Kamala will have to pay based on those criterias.
My Great, Great, Grandfather volunteered to fight the democrat slaveholders’ army & lost an arm at the Battle of Nashville. Does my family have to pay?
