A Long Island plastic surgeon was caught with an enormous cache of weapons in his car that included five fully loaded assault rifles, body armor and more than 1,600 rounds of ammunition, police said Wednesday.
Tuckahoe Police officers looking into a report that Matthew J. Bonanno, 47, had threatened his estranged wife arrested him Tuesday at a bar in the Westchester County town for allegedly illegally possessing a Glock semi-automatic handgun.
Bonanno, who practices in Lake Success, was arraigned Tuesday and remanded without bail on a slew of weapons charges. Investigators are still looking into how he obtained the massive amount of weapons.
Hes being held in the Westchester County Jail. His next court date is Aug. 20.
When they searched his BMW SUV, they found a staggering arms collection.
Inside the backseat and trunk were the assault rifles loaded with high-capacity magazines as well as: three handguns, 29 more high-capacity loaded magazines, a stun gun, handcuffs, full face masks, multiple military-style knives, four brass knuckles, pepper spray, scopes, binoculars and other paraphernalia, cops said.
Police then searched Bonannos home in the Town of Mount Pleasant, where they found three additional unlicensed handguns.
At the surgeons other house, in Great Neck, cops discovered another armory of assault rifles, a shotgun, handguns, high-capacity magazines, body armor, hundreds of rounds ammunition, smoke grenades and other weapons, which were turned over to Nassau Police.

re: “Were talking New York. Lots of his property has been deemed illegal in that state from the MSRs to probably magazine capacity.”
NYS ought to simply enact pre-crime laws such as “even thinking about a g-u-n will draw a penalty or assessment”.
It’s headed that way.
“Time to Ban Plastic Surgeons”
And BMW SUV’S
Nothing Illegal if it were in Idaho where there is low crime, but multiple felonies and No Bail in high crime NY.
Of course threatening your “estranged” wife will get you 3 hots and a cot here, as it should.
Well for you and me it would suck, but New Yorkers like being subservient to government. They hate the thought of us being able to buy arms. They have a totally unwarranted feeling of superiority to the hicks and rubes in "fly over country." (i.e. us). The loath the thought of freedom, and cannot comprehend our mindset. They fear us and they fear even more the philosophy that we represent - that of LIMITED government self sufficiency, responsibility, etc.
It's no accident that wannbe tyrant filth like Schumer, Gilibrand, Nadler, etc. represent NY. They are truly representative of the majority of the people who live there.
Ancestors in the Hudson River Valley are on full spin cycle.
Yep. It's always a good idea to have a trusted friend who'll rent a self-storage unit on short notice and toss you the key.
His Ex, if you read the story.
Which I dont think is even close to enormous cache. I think its just a starting point. <;8)

Other than the body armor, that exactly what I was thinking.
Well, except for the boating accident.......
1600? That's about what I keep in the crew cab of my truck (although only about half that are loaded in clipazines).
At least until opening day of dove season. Then that goes up by about another 500.
How are firearms in his car a threat to an ex, location unknown?
Well, his estranged wife said he threatened her, which is why his car was checked.
OTOH, knowing he had a weapons hobby and was always well-prepared, she could have just set him up. Who’s to say?
That’s why we have judges, who may be on average somewhere near impartial in the application of the law, but individually are very biased in their political viewpoints and their legal interpretations. And in court, unless you’re rich enough to finance appeals, you don’t get average, you get a one-shot chance.
Oh, I see...you meant the verbal threat, which is probably a lie by the ex, advised by her attorney.
Not certain about the state's laws but the guy may have a history of domestic violence against her since they're estranged and if so, that may preclude him from owning firearms.......or not.
Mmmm....Dr. Bonnano what crime family does that remind us of?
Arsenal or Armory, he was well supplied.

It's New York. He broken about a dozen laws.
