The two guards who were in the jail unit where Jeffrey Epstein apparently killed himself fell asleep and failed to check on him for about three hours, then falsified records to cover up their mistake, a law enforcement official and a prison official said on Tuesday.

they might have been shall we say in flagrante delicto? and leaving the tv turned on and tuned into the hustler channel? that’s about the only reasonable explanation i can figure (at least the flagrante delicto part). if not, they better get their personal affairs in order, whether or not they got paid to remain silent. if this is a job, cost was no object.

2) If they were really this understaffed why weren't their prisoners transferred to somewhere better staffed. Why weren't the courts, which love to release prisoners d/t 'overcrowding,' notified in advance of their inability to provide standard prison care. Shifting prisoners d/t problems with jail facilities may be inconvenient for families and defense lawyers, but is hardly unprecedented.
3) Instead of the old DMV comparisons questions to the Democrat Primary candidates should be asked why we should trust 'the government' to carry out all their big plans when it can't keep a top prisoner from doing this or even figure out how he did it when he was supposed to be under close watch while locked up.
