NEW YORK (AP) Jail staff failed to follow protocols leading up to Jeffrey Epsteins death, according to a report from The New York Times, deepening the fallout from what led to the highly connected financiers apparent suicide. Epstein should have been checked on by guards in his cell every 30 minutes, but that didnt happen the night before his apparent suicide, a law enforcement official...
The Times spoke to the official on the condition of anonymity. The Associated Press has not independently confirmed the information.
A law enforcement source also said he was alone in his cell Saturday night after his cellmate was transferred. An official with knowledge of the investigation told the Times that the Justice Department was told Epstein would have a cellmate and be monitored by a guard every 30 minutes.
The mystery surrounding how he was able to kill himself in jail comes as investigators have been digging into allegations of sexual abuse and conspiracy against Epstein. An additional federal investigation was launched Saturday after the Federal Bureau of Prison said Epstein was found unresponsive in his cell at a high-security jail in Manhattan. He was later pronounced dead from an apparent suicide, the BOP said. His abrupt death cuts short a criminal prosecution that could have pulled back the curtain on the inner workings of the high-flying financier with connections to celebrities and presidents, though prosecutors have vowed to continue investigating.
Epstein had been placed on suicide watch after he was found a little over two weeks ago with bruising on his neck, according to a person familiar with the matter who wasnt authorized to discuss it publicly. But he was taken off the watch at the end of July and therefore wasnt on it at the time of his death, the person said.

Many associated with Billary’s victims “broke the rules”.
When there’s no sunshine, fungus grows.
1. Florida Epstein sentencing - secretive, ended up featuring abuse.
2. NYC MCC incarceration - secretive, ended up featuring incompetance and apparently an unauthorized execution.
Lee Harvey Epstein
I find the whole thing annoying.
There seem like two choices:
1) The government assassinated Epstein.
2) The government faked his death and took him somewhere else (perhaps as a safeguard against future assassination attempts).
I find Option #2 unlikely.
AG Barr’s silly little statement that he is “appalled” is ridiculous. Epstein came close to death a few weeks ago. Suicide attempt? Failed hit? A warning? It doesn’t matter. The man was marked for death and everyone knew it. AG Barr failed — utterly failed — to ensure that a second incident was impossible.
The second incident happened. Rules were broken, guards were tired, cameras weren’t positioned well, blah, blah, blah. The government made the hit. It went like clockwork. Epstein is dead. AG Barr is a joke. This was his responsibility.
p
What did he hang himself with?
Now don’t ya know we’re all stupid.the government is never wrong.../S
Just convene a federal grand jury to examine the death of a key federal witness and parade those guards through there subject to several years prison for perjury. Answers will surface.
The person to question is the one who took him off suicide watch.
Garroted himself to death. Happens all the time. Nothing to see here...0
Only one side plays hardball that way...0
Just to be clear...Bill Clinton has NOT been exonerated in the murder of Jeffrey Epstein.
“What did he hang himself with?”
Red scarf?
“What did he hang himself with?”
Excellent question. Evidently, from a statement made by a former inmate, even the sheets and coverings on the beds were paper and would not hold the weight of a person attempting to hang himself. IMO He was executed...the first time Epstein said an attempt was made on his life. In my opinion, He was murdered...most likely deservedly so, but it was done to protect important people who may have been exposed. Ghislaine Maxwell better look both ways crossing streets in the future.
I fail to see how checking every 30 minutes would have prevented it. IF he offed himself, he’d have plenty of time to do it between guard passes. Only constant around the clock surveilence could have prevented it.
From the article:
“...A law enforcement source also said he was alone in his cell Saturday night after his cellmate was transferred. ...”
I thought they found him unresponsive at 6:30 am Saturday morning??
I expect better from Breitbart.
