Police and other emergency services are responding to reports of an active shooting at the Walmart near the Cielo Vista Mall in El Paso, Texas, local officials and witnesses say. Only few details were immediately available.
The incident began at about 11 a.m. on Saturday when officers were called for an active shooter at Walmart. It was not immediately clear if police have confirmed a shooting and, if so, what is the status of the suspect.

I’ve never seen a Walmart that was posted that you could not carry. The mall supposedly is posted no weapons. Statistically there had to be a few CHL holders on scene. Good luck having a clear line of sight to the shooter with no innocents in the background.

Multiple people were killed Saturday in a shooting in El Paso, Texas, the chief of staff to the city’s mayor said.
Suspects are in custody, Olivia Zepeda said. It wasn’t immediately clear how many people were in custody or how many had been killed or hurt.
Eighteen people were shot inside a Walmart near the Cielo Vista Mall,
according to NBC News affiliate KTSM. The extent of their injuries is
unknown at this time, KTSM reported.
El Paso police and multiple other law enforcement agencies were responding
to a shooting at Hawkins and Gateway East, including the ATF and FBI. Law
enforcement said the scene was still active.
El Paso police said they have reports of multiple shooters.

As of January 1, 2016, holders of a Texas CHL or LTC are able to openly carry handguns in the same places that allow concealed carry with some exceptions. Openly carried handguns must be in a shoulder or belt holster. Existing CHL holders may continue to carry with a valid license.
