DC's new Catholic archbishop slams Trump for 'diminishing our national life'

The District of Columbia's new Catholic leader - the country's lone black archbishop - on Thursday issued his first public statement since his installation, lambasting President Donald Trump's recent tweets about members of Congress of color as "diminishing our national life." Wilton Gregory, who came to Washington in May, is known through his long, prominent career for being nonconfrontational on hot-button issues in public, but working quietly behind the scenes - a model similar to the man he replaced, Cardinal Donald Wuerl. But on Thursday, Gregory signaled that he wants to use his higher-profile perch in the nation's capital to challenge the use of identity - racial, national origin or otherwise - as a tool of attack.

Uh, the Catholic Church has much much MUCH greater problems than the Trumpster.

Try purging the lavender mafia, getting rid of the atheist pope, and putting a few, no make that a lot, child molesting priests in jail. Then you can talk about Trump.

(Yes I am - or was - a Catholic).

This Catholics response:

STFU and go save souls.

I must have missed the part where Jesus spoke about diversity and quotas and “racism”, a word that has come to mean nothing.

Try purging the lavender mafia,

Good luck trying to do that. How many years did it take to get rid of one person - McCarrick - despite the overwhelming evidence

One interesting point of Catholic Church traditions is that in the U.S., the archbishop's post in Washington isn't considered a very prominent role at all. The post is usually given to third-rate bishops, often for purely political reasons.

Washington D.C. may be the nation's capital, but historically there were very few Catholics there. There are actually more Catholics the dioceses of much smaller cities like Buffalo, Hartford, and even Trenton, NJ.

Rather than focus on the problems of Baltimore and the family crisis in the communities, he pounds Trump. Is anyone surprised?

The “countries lone(Token) black Archbishop” is purely a political appointment with ZERO Spiritual interest in anything. Parts of DC are “no go” zones. Have been for years. WHAT has this clown and his predecessor done to help. NOTHING! But he has time to be a politician?

KMA Archbishop.

Its nearly impossible anymore... the church hierarchy has been infested by sodomites, and they work to silence and intimidate any who dare bring it up. They won’t even admit their problem then wonder why it keeps happening.

I firmly believe Benedicts attempt to take on this problem is what lead to his “retirement” he took it on and underestimated its entrenchment.

THere is no doubt in my mind that the current Pope is either a member of, or controlled by the homosexual cabal in the church.
