Somali American Speaks Out Against Ilhan Omar’s Extreme Ideology and Antisemitism

Earlier this week a Somali American patriot reached out to The Gateway Pundit to share some more on Ilhan’s radical past... As one of their fellow clansmen who has moved to America... She doesn’t espouse our beliefs nor our love for our adopted country. She has more loyalty to Somalia and our clan than she has towards this great country.

We left a country where we were indoctrinated to believe things like Northern Somalis are Jewish and should be exterminated... That same extreme ideology and anti-Semitism that Ilhan displays, is what led to the genocide in Somaliland and Al-Shabab taking over... ideology, that by the way, Ilhan’s dad personally helped formulate during his time as a propagandist in the Barre regime.

Sounds like Ilhan's family may have actual skeletons in their closet. What was their involvement in the genocide in Somalia?

The Siad Barre regime that her dad (and basically their whole extended Majeerteen Clan) worked for, took over the country in a coup, dissolved the constitution and made it a Marxist-Lenninist dictatorship, and a client of the Soviet Union.

According to the UN Development Program, “the 21-year regime of Siyad Barre had one of the worst human rights records in Africa.” His Government, toward the end of its rule, conducted a Genocide of the Isaaq Clan. From Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isaaq_genocide):

“This genocide also included the levelling and complete destruction of the second and third largest cities in Somalia, Hargeisa (which was 90 per cent destroyed) and Burao (70 per cent destroyed) respectively, and had caused up to 500,000 Somalis (primarily of the Isaaq clan) to flee their land and cross the border to Hartasheikh in Ethiopia as refugees, in what was described as “one of the fastest and largest forced movements of people recorded in Africa”, and resulted in the creation of the world’s largest refugee camp then (1988), with another 400,000 being internally displaced. The scale of destruction led to Hargeisa being known as the ‘Dresden of Africa’. The killings happened during the Somali Civil War and have been referred to as a “forgotten genocide”.

Her family left Somalia not with the great hordes fleeing the genocide in 1987-89, but in 1991, when the perpetrators of the genocide were forced from power. They may turn out to be the Modern African equivalent of the SS fleeing to Argentina under false identities, after their regime fell.

It’s probably a matter of clan warfare that separates Somalia from Northern Somaliland, but the latter is the most underreported success story in east Africa.

Northern Somaliland or the Republic of Somaliland is an autonomous region within greater Somalia, but it is a de facto though largely unrecognized country in its own right. It survived hideous mass murders by the Siad Barre regime with whom Ihlan Omar’s clan was closley allied (they fled Somalia when the butcher Barre was overthrown; her radical views began then).

Somaliland is a former British protectorate; Somalia is the former Italian protectorate; look at their differences and go figure. Somaliland has its own currency, elected president and parliament, and military. Its exports are livestock products, agricultural products, and will soon bring in its own oil wells.

Somaliland is different from Somalia as night from day. The quote “we were taught Northern Somalis are Jewish and should be exterminated” is EXTREMELY instructive as to the nature of Ihlan Omar and the eastern Somali vermin now infesting our country.

Not just any old warfare - world class genocide. Hard to sweep that under the rug and go back to how things were before.

The dominant Ishaq (Isaac) group of Clans made up about 20% of the population of what used to be Somalia, and dominate what is now de facto independent Somaliland in the North.

The Darod group of Clans from the Horn of Africa/Puntland area also constituted around 20% of the former Somalia. The Darod Clans include the Majeerteen Clan of Ilhan Omar, and the Marehan (Father) and Ogaden (Mother) Clans of former Marxist dictator Said Barre - who conducted horrific genocide against the Ishaq from 1987 to 1989.

Darod Clan members dominated the National Government, when Siad Barre unleashed the Military to level the Mainly Ishaq cities, and systematically slaughter their residents.

Mass graves - the common result of unchecked socialist experiments. Somalia today still remains riven by clan divisions. As you point out, the Ishaq in Somaliland have little interest in rejoining that mess, and are doing better on their own.

I am glad to see this posted.

I was concerned that here must be some US citizen Somalis who know about Ilhan and would have something to say about this fraud, as this person did.

It appears to me her real name is Ilhan sur said elmi, and the Omar part now used, is a fraudulent move to get her into this country with a different family instead of her own.

I hope more Somalis who know her family history come forward. - Tom

Just a couple of months ago, a jury in Alexandria, VA awarded a civil settlement to an Ishaq survivor of the genocide in Somalia. That genocide occurred at the same time, and on a similar scale, to Saddam Hussein's genocide against the Kurds in Iraq.

The man found liable, a former Brigade commander in Siad Barre's Army, nicknamed Tukeh (the Crow) was living in Fairfax, Virginia, driving for Uber.
