Taylor Swift rolls out ‘Pride anthem’ showing Christians as dumb rednecks
Life site news ^ | 18 June 2019 | Calvin Freiburger

Pop superstar Taylor Swift is doubling down on her new social justice warrior persona with the release of her latest music video, a full-blown LGBT anthem that depicts those who hold a Christian view of homosexuality and a bilogical view of sex as angry, dim-witted rednecks.

NBC News describes the video for “You Need to Calm Down” as a “vibrantly colored, surreal” trek through a “pastel-colored trailer park, with anti-LGBT protesters being faced down or ignored by the flamboyantly dressed stars” that “culminates with [sic] a massive foot fight.” Celebrity guests include Katy Perry, Ellen Degeneres, Ryan Reynolds, and Laverne Cox.

The video includes caricatures of anti-LGBT protesters as screaming rednecks with cartoonish hair and tattered clothes, bearing signs such as “homosexuality is sin” and a misspelled “get a brain morans.”

“You are somebody that we don’t know, but you are coming at my friends like a missile,” Swift sings. “Why are you mad? When you could be GLAAD?” (The official lyrics video spells the word “glad” with two A’s, a reference to the LGBT activist group.) The lyrics also tell the straw-man version of Swift’s foes that they “would rather be in the dark ages” and need to “control your urges to scream about all the people you hate, ’cause shade never made anybody less gay.”

The video ends with text exhorting viewers: “Let’s show our pride by demanding that, on a national level, our laws truly treat all of our citizens equally. Please sign my petition for Senate support of the Equality Act on change.org.”

The so-called Equality Act would add “sex,” “sexual orientation,” and “gender identity” to federal “non-discrimination” categories in “public accommodations,” expand the definition of “public accomodations” to include recreation, shopping, online retailers, health care services, and other kinds of establishments, and force anyone employing 15 or more people to recognize their claimed “gender identity” and mandate transgender “access” to opposite-sex restrooms, locker rooms, and dressing rooms.

“Taylor Swift is one of the world’s biggest pop stars. The fact that she continues to use her platform and music to support the LGBTQ community and the Equality Act is a true sign of being an ally,” GLAAD director of talent engagement Anthony Ramos said. “‘You Need to Calm Down’ is the perfect Pride anthem, and we’re thrilled to see Taylor standing with the LGBTQ community to promote inclusivity, equality, and acceptance this Pride month.”

For years, liberals attacked Swift for her relative silence on political and cultural causes. She gave in to the pressure last year, first by endorsing Tennessee’s former Democrat governor Phil Bredesen in his failed Senate race against Republican Marsha Blackburn. In April, the country-turned-pop star donated $113,000 to the left-wing Tennessee Equality Project (TEP) to combat a series of bills before the Tennessee legislature to protect private entities’ religious and conscience rights and reject state recognition of same-sex “marriage.” Swift and TEP dubbed the legislation a “Slate of Hate.”

Well for what it’s worth, not me. I suppose I’m not better as I listen to classic rock (also classic country, bluegrass, operetta, American songbook music, and other stuff). But at least most of the classic rockers, at least the ones I like most (ie Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Little Feat, Steely Dan, The Who) mostly weren’t overtly political, and when they were, it was in that naive “free everything now” hippie way.

As an aside, Roger Daltrey of The Who supports Brexit, and though that doesn’t make him a right winger, he’s said things which intimate that he might be, at least on some issues (I know he’s said things about immigration being out of control).

She was never ‘quite good’. She was the epitome of a no talent corporate invention. She has a crap, no range voice, and made her name by singing insipid mindless songs about Jr. High breakups that appealed to 10-14 year old girls. Once she outgrew that at 20 something she needed to come up with a new schtick to cover up her lack of talent. I guess we know what that is now. Hook your star to the trendy LGBTQ agenda and hope they’ll buy your music and keep you relevant. I’m sure if she hasn’t already she’ll soon come out in favor of abortion on demand, fighting climate catastrophe or whatever the progressive flavor of the day is.

I have to thank the “musicians” and “music” of the past few decades for causing me to seek out real singers and musicians from earlier times that I didn’t know or didn’t appreciate. For example, will the likes of Taylor Swift ever sound as good as Peggy Lee singing anything, or even Helen Reddy singing “Angie Baby?”

.....there ARE beautiful strong voiced singers out there.....

Try Molly Skaggs ( yes, that Skaggs)
.....listen to her sing with Bethel Music ......’Ain’t No Grave.’......
....she definitely has her Daddy’s pipes!
And she’s a good girl!

“WTH are the REAL MEN IN ENTERTAINMENT?”

Self-contradictory. Same with real women.

How about when one of these “courageous” bandwagon entertainers makes a song mocking Muslims for throwing sodomites off tall buildings?

As for “live and let live”, that horse left the barn hears ago. It’s hardly “live and let live” when the purple mafia goes around suing small businesses for not being complicit in celebrating their perversion, or when they get people fired from their jobs for expressing, even if it’s on their own personal time, opposition to such things as sodomite mirage.

They never just wanted “government out of our bedrooms”, the long game was always to force society to normalize their perversion, and then to force acquiescence, even superiority. The sodomite manifesto stating as much (including the plan to go after the children of other people) was read into the Congressional record many years ago.

I’d argue she was “good” .... can’t stand her. She needs to get Dixie Chick’d.

Why do the Left do this ? Why is it not enough to be silent or neutral ?

There are five levels of support/opposition for the Left.

Active Supporters: Fully on board and working for the cause

Passive Supporters: Support the cause, but do not participate actively

Neutral: Neither support or oppose. Not involved.

Passive Opposition: Oppose the cause, but don't do anything about it

Active Opposition: Actively engaged in efforts to oppose the cause. Attend rallies, work the phones, contribute, etc.

The goal of the Left is not to take the Active Opposition and convert it into active support. The goal is to move people in each category one space to the Left.

For instance, they seek to make their Active Opposition into Passive Opposition. Do this by making them embarrassed to be part of the Active Opposition. That is why they portray every opponent as a toothless moron. Who wants to hang out with toothless morons? If you can make these people passive, you have eliminated your strongest opposition.

Also, you seek to turn your Passive Supporter into an Active Supporter. This is what they have done with Tay Tay. She has always been sympathetic to their cause. Now they are just trying to push her into a more active and overt role.

And Dylan himself had no interest in being “the voice of his generation”. He has repeatedly tried to disabuse people of that idea.

“Get to hear real singers like Dinah Washington and Ella Fitzgerald”

Try https://www.radiotunes.com/jazzclassics

It has a free version with commercials. Lots of other categories, 99% of which I have no interest in.

I don’t think she really has any “colors” politically, this is the 21st C version of “We Are The World”. The sodomite mafia is just better at keeping their agenda in the fore than a bunch of starving Africans were.

Ha! She has made her fortune off the psyche of young kids with her clean-cut image. Now she is going to take it to the next level and educate them and their thwarted parents on the normalcy of sexual deviancy.

Kind of like Miss Spider, just sucking them into the web.

EXXX-aptly. If murdering babies in horrific ways will get her name in the papers and on tv, she’ll jump on that bandwagon. She doesn’t have any deeply held political values. I mean really, a woman who made her career “singing” snarky songs about the men who’d had enough of her sh*t?
