Pop superstar Taylor Swift is doubling down on her new social justice warrior persona with the release of her latest music video, a full-blown LGBT anthem that depicts those who hold a Christian view of homosexuality and a bilogical view of sex as angry, dim-witted rednecks.
NBC News describes the video for “You Need to Calm Down” as a “vibrantly colored, surreal” trek through a “pastel-colored trailer park, with anti-LGBT protesters being faced down or ignored by the flamboyantly dressed stars” that “culminates with [sic] a massive foot fight.” Celebrity guests include Katy Perry, Ellen Degeneres, Ryan Reynolds, and Laverne Cox.
The video includes caricatures of anti-LGBT protesters as screaming rednecks with cartoonish hair and tattered clothes, bearing signs such as “homosexuality is sin” and a misspelled “get a brain morans.”
“You are somebody that we don’t know, but you are coming at my friends like a missile,” Swift sings. “Why are you mad? When you could be GLAAD?” (The official lyrics video spells the word “glad” with two A’s, a reference to the LGBT activist group.) The lyrics also tell the straw-man version of Swift’s foes that they “would rather be in the dark ages” and need to “control your urges to scream about all the people you hate, ’cause shade never made anybody less gay.”
The video ends with text exhorting viewers: “Let’s show our pride by demanding that, on a national level, our laws truly treat all of our citizens equally. Please sign my petition for Senate support of the Equality Act on change.org.”
The so-called Equality Act would add “sex,” “sexual orientation,” and “gender identity” to federal “non-discrimination” categories in “public accommodations,” expand the definition of “public accomodations” to include recreation, shopping, online retailers, health care services, and other kinds of establishments, and force anyone employing 15 or more people to recognize their claimed “gender identity” and mandate transgender “access” to opposite-sex restrooms, locker rooms, and dressing rooms.
“Taylor Swift is one of the world’s biggest pop stars. The fact that she continues to use her platform and music to support the LGBTQ community and the Equality Act is a true sign of being an ally,” GLAAD director of talent engagement Anthony Ramos said. “‘You Need to Calm Down’ is the perfect Pride anthem, and we’re thrilled to see Taylor standing with the LGBTQ community to promote inclusivity, equality, and acceptance this Pride month.”
For years, liberals attacked Swift for her relative silence on political and cultural causes. She gave in to the pressure last year, first by endorsing Tennessee’s former Democrat governor Phil Bredesen in his failed Senate race against Republican Marsha Blackburn. In April, the country-turned-pop star donated $113,000 to the left-wing Tennessee Equality Project (TEP) to combat a series of bills before the Tennessee legislature to protect private entities’ religious and conscience rights and reject state recognition of same-sex “marriage.” Swift and TEP dubbed the legislation a “Slate of Hate.”

Stupid botch. She acquires fame and a microphone as a performer, such as she is, and like the rest of them these days, uses it to advance the popular amongst celebrities social justice agenda, especially the purple mafia one. The stupid hypocritical botch starts her career as “the girl next door”, whatever it takes to get in her foot in the door, and then after she’s become one of “them” and has become accepted by the rest of the almost entirely leftist celebrity world, she seeks validation from her leftist “peers” by insulting part of her fan base. The part that burns me up is the hypocrisy. When she was trying to make it, she didn’t give a hoot in hell about “causes”. Now that she thinks she’s unassailable, she jumps on the bandwagon. They’re all hypocrites, they all do the same thing.
I don’t give a hoot in hell about celebrities, but they’re gonna make you aware of their presence by using the platform they were given to sing/act/whatever to run their mouths about politics and the cause du jour, and their sheep fans will follow. When the cause du hour was starving Africans, they were on that. When it was “no more nukes”, they were on that. A lifetime ago, it was “freedom baby”, including freedom of speech.That only lasted until they realized that the rest of us have freedom of speech too. They don’t like that, so now they want to shut freedom of speech down. They really needn’t worry, the rest of us didn’t acquire a platform under false pretenses by claiming we were just entertainers.
As for her mocking Christians, she better be glad that God is in charge and not me. If she really wanted to be edgy and show how sincerely she supports the sodomites, she’d make a song mocking Muslims, since they’re the ones who throw sodomites off of tall buildings. I won’t hold my breath.
Just deleted her songs from my playlist.

I choose to ignore almost all modern “singers”, as they mostly couldn’t sing their way out of a paper bag. They autotune their recordings, and they sound like sh*t live. Streisand, for all her leftist craziness, at least could really sing, if you like her melodramatic style of many years now. Same with Celine and all the other “divas”, all that caterwauling-ie overuse of melisma.

Taylor Swift is re-fighting battles from ten years ago. These issues are settled. Most people are willing to live and let live.
But notice that every single person in her video is an adult. That is not where the fight is today. Now we have Drag Queen Storytime at the local library and Drag Kids leading the pride parade. Now the fight is about the attempt to pervert our children.
When Tay Tay shows up with strutting Drag Kids in tow, I’ll be much more impressed with her “courage”.

Back in the 1980s, when the rock band the Cars were at the top of the charts and creating music videos, an interviewer asked them why the band didn’t get political in their songs. One spoke up and cited Bob Dylan as someone who intrigued them but added (and this is not verbatim) “We got involved in music, to create songs, to meet girls and pay the rent … and we did all three.” Not a direct quote but one that was perfect for the time.
I loved the Dixie chicks music. I used to listen to it all the time. I haven’t listened to them in years.
At first I stopped because I thought they were fools. It was an active decision, that became a habit.
I wish “ice cream” would do something stupid like them. I can’t quit ice cream.

Really, the question is where are all the real men in the production side of entertainment? None of the productions promote “strong” people—period. The women are all driven to “overcome” stuff and the men are pussy idiots.
