Interesting. Can he waltz to the Dem nomination with minimal campaigning? He’s not an above-the-fray incumbent. Can he run like he is? Frankly, I doubt it. Right now his strong poll numbers are benefiting from strong name recognition and a crowded field of lunatic opponents. But those lunatics want the nomination too... desperately. So, at some point, they’ll start hitting him over stuff like his erstwhile moderate positions on the Iraq war, school busing, abortion, etc. Now, of course, being pilloried as a moderate might not necessarily hurt him with some of their actual voters, but it could force him to the left at which point he becomes just an older, whiter and slightly more masculine version of Kamala Harris.
He’s off the campaign trail so his handlers can fit him with a shock collar to apply some aversion therapy to try and brake his habit of *ahem* inappropriate touching.
