German Chancellor Angela Merkel took aim at Donald Trumps world view in a speech on U.S. soil, saying unilateralism risks bringing down post-World War II alliances and trade wars threaten the foundations of our prosperity.
More than ever, our way of thinking and actions have to be multilateral rather than unilateral, Merkel said in a commencement speech to Harvard Universitys class of 2019 that combined tough criticism of nationalist policies with philosophical vistas of a change for the better.
Merkel, 64, was addressing a receptive audience on Thursday as she seeks halt a deterioration in the trans-Atlantic alliance under Trumps presidency. In her 14th year in office, officials in Merkels government are beginning to speak of a point of no return in U.S.-German relations.

She can say whatever she wants. Enjoy your stay in a country with a First Amendment, Frau Merkel.
A veritable Who's Who of intellectuals.... Ha!

Witness that there are many people in positions of influence and power who are willing to cede American sovereignty. Make no mistake the globalists threaten the American nation.
14 years in office? She is fortunate that Germans are too lazy to replace her.
Commie slob. Merkel is kraut for Shitlery.
Imagine the western world run by the three hags. Merkel, Shitlery and May.
Trump is such a mind boggling transitional figure.
I remember Germans starting 2 world wars. I also remember Americans stopping them
Globalist rather than Independent. Say it Merkel.
Germans hate Merkle.
German Marxist Angela Merkel...
After a tenure of 14 years in office, it would appear that they do not hate her enough.
So.. badthink... double plus bad... Thanks fuhrer
Having lived in Germany twice and since I speak the language I can say I want nothing to do with the German Weltanschaung.
No wonder they are deathly afraid of the nation-state given their traumatic history. They are filled with self loathing/oikophobia for their own culture and country yet at the same time have this amazing sense of smug arrogance about the Yurp superstate they want to create (and dominate.....shhhh dont ever admit that part in public...though their elites are all thinking it).
It also helps that they know that on their own, they are never going to have the size and strength to be a world power ever again - this goes for all Yurp elites. Being Germans, they cannot conceive of power being decentralized. Being Yurps, the elites from all over Western Europe cannot conceive of it being Democratic and of themselves not ruling over the serfs.
In their little fantasy world, all problems can be solved by sitting down and negotiating. Everybody can be persuaded to act like a gentleman if only they are treated like gentlemen and lets just close our minds to any other possibility......and hey, we can always turn and scream YOUVE got to DO something! To those beastly knuckle dragging Americans with their real military that does actual fighting whenever things get ugly. Then when the danger has passed and the problem has been dealt with, we can chortle about how we would have been smarter and not made this or that mistake the Americans made when dealing with the problem. Then we can get back to smugly proclaiming ourselves to be more civilized.
Thats how the German elites are.
“...Trump is such a mind boggling transitional figure....”
He absolutely terrifies them. He doesn’t - and won’t - back down. And they can’t stand it.
America First. America Last. And America All Points In Between.
How’s that for “Nationalist”, Frau Annie?
Enjoy your visit here. Then leave.
Harvard and Merkel. Two peas in a pod.
Yank this commie’s visa immediately. What a worthless putz.
As opposed to unilaterally destroying Europe with her migrant policy.
