Gillette has released a new advertisement featuring a trans man shaving for the first time as his father looks on with pride.
The ad features Samson Bonkeabantu Brown, a young Canadian, who says, “Growing up I was always trying to figure out what kind of man I want to become and I’m still trying to figure out what kind that I want to become.”
Brown then receives encouragement and advice from his father.
“Now don’t be scared. Shaving is about being confident. You are doing fine.”
Brown concludes the ad saying, “It’s not just myself transitioning. It’s everyone around me transitioning.”

I did long ago. Schick Hydro5 is so much better than anything Gillette has ever made.
I remember seeing some hair on my face in my mid-teens and decided I looked like a doofus. My folks were divorced so I rummaged around the bathroom until I found a razor, put a bunch of cheap soap on my face, and went to work. I’m still a doofus, but a clean-shaven one.
Jeez, who knew shaving required _so much_ emotional support???

I actually quit them so long ago that I can’t remember why.
Just remembered it had to do with their pushing gun control.
Their razors are good but there are plenty of others just as good and cheaper to boot.
Was it specified exactly what she was shaving?
I switched to the new philips/norelco electric beard trimmer/shavers.
