Oregon authorities are seeking a would-be thief who was armed with a hatchet when he tried to rob a convenience store, only to flee when the clerk drew a gun and called 911.
However, the clerk's quick thinking cost him his job, with the president of Plaid Pantry in Oak Grove explaining to local station KOIN-TV that the chain has a zero-tolerance policy for weapons.
He said employees are trained to de-escalate robbery situations to avoid injury, according to the station.
The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office on Friday released surveillance video of the incident which took place April 28 at the store, seeking tips in identifying the suspect who fled empty-handed and without the 12-inch hatchet.

In Oregon and can confirm. Keep in mind that most of the state votes republican not democrat but the few very large counties that do vote democrat always carry the weight at the ballot box. Friend of mine suggests city states as a solution. Most of us wouldn’t mind.

If I’m the parent of a murdered while employed child at 7-11 I will try to own the chain. Trying to reason with a criminal who may be drug crazed is not a good idea. Hats off to those employees who say “My life is worth more than my low wage job.”
He is alive, thank God and his wise decision to carry in an environment where you will be killed for whatever is in the cash register. This chain of stores needs to be avoided. The president of the company is an rectum hole.

A friend of mine used to be field tech for Time Warner and went into the worst parts of the city on regular basis.
He carried every day despite company policy against it.
