A roadside bomb hit a tourist bus on Sunday near the Giza Pyramids, wounding at least 17 people including tourists, Egyptian officials said.
The officials said the bus was traveling on a road close to the under-construction Grand Egyptian Museum, which is located adjacent to the Giza Pyramids but is not yet open to tourists.
The bus was carrying at least 25 people mostly from South Africa, officials added.
Security forces cordoned off the site of the explosion and the wounded were taken to a nearby hospital, they said.
They said the explosion damaged a windshield of another car. Footage circulated online shows shattered windows of the bus.
Egypt has battled Islamic militants for years in the Sinai Peninsula in an insurgency that has occasionally spilled over to the mainland, hitting minority Christians or tourists.
The attack comes as Egypts vital tourism industry is showing signs of recovery after years in the doldrums because of the political turmoil and violence that followed a 2011 uprising that toppled former leader Hosni Mubarak.

You're the one helping the Islamic terrorists succeed in their mission of scaring tourists away to undermine the el-Sisi government. You know, the people who overthrew the Muslim Brotherhood dictators who Obama backed.
I don't mind it if you prefer to stay right safe at home in whatever little burg you live in - but quit trying to scare away people from a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Muslim Brotherhood?
Oh yeah! The font of Al Qaeda the Egyptians voted into office. I remember.
Repeat after me:
“islam is a totalitarian death cult founded by a child rapist.”
Yes - but lumping millions of good, decent Egyptians in with the violent nutcases is wasteful and childish. Instead of sitting for days in your Lay-Z-Boy recliner, why not go to Egypt and try converting some folks away from Islam?
The top 10% of Egyptian society are Coptic Christians or did you miss that part?
People with fixations are boring.
muslims are good people only insofar as they resist their religion’s dictate to kill you or die trying.
Because I’m Jewish, and they PARTICULARLY want to kill me, while I’m not interested in converting anyone.
Since you’ve never been to Cairo, you don’t know that Israeli tourists are all over the place - at the Cairo Museum, the Khan Khalili Souk, Gaza, and backpacking in the Sinai.
Like I said - you need to get out more.

You really oughtn’t insult fellow FReepers who you don’t know. Makes you look stupid (an informed opinion, see above.)
And the really funny part is you probably think you’re winning this argument.
Awwww Jeez. Too much fun.
Impressive list - so why are your opinions so backward?
My list:
Egypt, Israel, Syria, Soviet Union/Russia, Kirghizstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Germany, France, Greece, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, England, Ireland, Taiwan, Okinawa, Japan, the Philippines, Australia, Mexico, Canada, and Vietnam when it was interesting.

If you actually cared a whit, you'd be encouraging people to keep going to Egypt to support them.
You scare that easily?
I’m in favor of a wall. Around Islam. Shoot any who try to escape their hell hole.

Define islamophilia, and then go look in a mirror.
Everyone I need to know about Egyptian men, I learned from reporter Lara Logans ordeal at their filthy hands in a public square in Cairo.
Garbage culture. Garbage country. Not with second of my time or a cent of my money. And Never a place for western women.
We can't "build a wall around Islamic states" in the age of ballistic missiles.
We can't "kill all of them" since we aren't Nazi Germany.
We can't just pretend that they'll go away - that hasn't worked since we were six.
The only real solution is engaging the Muslims and showing them that their teachings are false and that they can live a better life if they escape their Islamic prison. That's part of what I did while I was in the Middle East and Russia: talk to people, make friends, explain the advantages and benefits of modern, American life and win them over (I speak Russian, French, and middling Arabic and some Hebrew).
People are open to this approach. Sitting at home and mumbling "bomb them all" is ineffective.
