IMHO - Climate has nothing to do with it. It's more like loss of habitat and cats willing/able to hunt in areas they share with humans.
More people, less habitat, cats adapt. Cats gotta eat!!

Oh horseChips! The reason is because there are too ****ing many of them! The animal rights nutballs succeed in getting the hunting banned so there is too many for their habitat to hold.
They are overpopulated and eating people survive. Shoot the surplus and make a rug!
