Kimmel knocks Dems' efforts to get Trump's tax returns: 'Half of America doesn't care'
Fox News ^ | May 09 2019 | Joseph A. Wulfsohn

Late night host Jimmy Kimmel mocked Democratic lawmakers on Thursday night for their ongoing efforts to obtain President Trump's tax returns.

Kimmel began by telling his audience about a bill that the New York state Senate passed Wednesday that would assist Congress in retrieving the president's tax records.

"The New York state Senate yesterday passed a bill that would allow Congress to finally see Donald Trump's tax returns, which would mean... nothing. It will make no difference whatsoever," Kimmel said. "It's not that we don't know he's a fraud -- everyone knows that. The problem is half of America doesn't care."

New York, eh? If they’re going violate Trump’s privacy and his returns are released, the Clintons’ need to be released right alongside of them. Anything less is rank hypocrisy.

Trump has been a big fish for the IRS and/or the Southern District of New York(U.S. District Court) since the 1980's when he completed the renovation of the Grand Central Hyatt. Agents and lawyers combed his affairs knowing that nabbing this loud, brash very public figure could be the cornerstone of a big, beautiful career.

One can imagine that each new class of legal eagles fought over who could glommed onto the Trump file, thick with manila envelopes, each spilling over with news clippings and margin notes of potential violations of the law.

How exciting it must have been...only to have older, experienced lawyers laugh and admonish them that it was nothing but a rabbit hole. Nothing but a portal into another dimension wherein dreams and fantasies come to naught.

This was when Trump learned to bait his adversaries. This was when he learned that once they fell for the bait, they would become fixated and paralyzed into analysis.

He might have learned this from his father who was himself something of dandy. But wherever he learned it, he learned it well.

Stay clean but leave a BIG legal and financial trail. This will confound your enemies. It will bog them down with work but, in the end, leave them empty handed.

And now he sits in the Oval Office and chuckles to himself and his closest advisors as they watch the Democrats jump down those ancient Trump rabbit holes. Those portals into dimensions that have been so picked clean by other young ambitious lawyers and accountants for so many, many years.

What else would you expect from New York? Presidential reveal of his taxes was started as a VOLUNTARY gesture, for lack of a better word. Now too many people think it is mandatory! The only thing I want to know about any president’s finances is that the income was obtained legally.

I’m so sick of the “everybody knows it” BS from the left. Show me ONE thing that proves Trump is or has done anything that they spew about him. Just one. But nope. They can’t. It’s just their personal truth that “orange man bad”. Or “if you don’t know, I’m not going to tell you “ crap. Stunted people at best. Not one on the left can give us one reason why Congress needs to “impee fo-fie” but yet they persist. (Sounds like a book title! Lol)

These people are insane.

Idiots like Kimmel have zero business commenting on anything political because he doesn't know how government works.

For example: passing a law targeting a single individual is UN-CONSTITUTIONAL. That's a Bill of Attainder and the Constitution expressly forbids it.

Not sure if the dumbass Democrats that run New York State know this or even care. What they did is nothing more than a political stunt designed to generate headlines.

Now, some liberal lower court may validate and say it's legal for NYS to do it, once this hits the USSC - and it will - NYS will get slapped down so fast their heads will spin.

Oh, I care, Kimmel.

I care that the NYS legislature is totally on board with passing an unconstitutional bill of attainder in an attempt to get rid of a political opponenent.

You bet I care.

I don’t agree that he was taking the Democrats to task.

His focus was on belittling the half who support Trump, and Trump himself.

In 2020 I hope Trump trounces his opponent. I’d love to see him get 70-75% of the vote. Unrealistic or not, I’m just tired of seeing him get knocked for having low support, when I think a lot more people support him, than the MSM thinks.

It is amazing to me the burden this guy carries around, to get things done, seemingly at times the whole world is against him.

Actually it’s about 75% but 50% from a dickweed is a good start.

Interesting and well noted.

It is a very tough game of cat and mouse to play and can be very dangerous. All the mouse has to do is slip up once but the cat can hunt and pounce time after time.

Thankfully the Democrat Party is not smart enough to listen to Jimmy Kimmel.

I would say it’s more the half.

Kimmel knows Trump is going to get re-elected. I’ll give the little weasel that.

Someone ought to explain that this type of legislation is specifically prohibited by the Constitution. It is called an Act of Attainder:

A legislative act that singles out an individual or group for punishment without a trial. The Constitution of the United States, Article I, Section 9, paragraph 3 provides that: “No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law will be passed.”

All the mouse has to do is slip up once but the cat can hunt and pounce time after time.

You raise a very interesting point.

The mouse must be smarter than the cat, and quicker, not just once, but every time. Given that, the game (life) is so much more exciting for the mouse than the cat.

One might even draw from that thought that life itself is brighter, more poignant for mice (or rabbits for that matter) than those who prey on them. Little things overlooked by humans, but not by God.

Churchill wasn't thinking of this but when he said the following, but he proves the point...

“Honours should go where death and danger go.”

and

“Nothing in life is so exhilarating as to be shot at without result.”

I sometimes wonder if part of Trump's dead brother's problem wasn't just alcohol, but also the lack of meaning and purpose that comes with being from a wealthy family (most of us have seen this in friends and/or acquaintances).

From his brother Trump not only learned not to drink, but also to dig for that meaning in life that cannot be obscured by having too much money (i.e., danger and purpose).
