Trump is right: $91B has been earmarked for Puerto Rico disaster recovery
NotiCel ^ | 5/09/2019

The article is in Spanish, but this is the relevant part (my translation):

In its version [of the Puerto Rico Fiscal Plan, which will serve as the new territorial budget, the Federal Oversight and Management Board] affirms that Puerto Rico will receive [an additional] $82 billion dollars in federal and private funding for hurricane disaster recovery over the next 10 - 15 years.

So, yes, we [we = the United States] have pooled $91B+ for the American territory's hurricane relief. The "big story" about Trump being a liar again during his PCB rally where he compared FL, TX and PR disaster funding, is more fake news. Note: the Federal Oversight and Management Board is an entity created by Congress to oversee and overhaul the island's finances. Sort of a tailor-made bankruptcy chapter. It has basically taken over the territory's budget.

Needs to ask for the list of names of those who allegedly died in the storm.

(To put the lie to the 3,000 number thrown around)

For all the angst the Democrats express for corporations not paying Federal taxes or real estate developers carrying forward losses, why don’t they descent upon good old PR?

Last I knew they pay nothing at all and get tremendous benefits, like this 91 billion.

true. President Trump is going to be blamed for their woes no matter what he does. Why pay them for it?

In addition to the disaster funding and budget issues, and more importantly, the article states that the Federal Oversight and Management Board is basically re-writing the island’s political map, by launching a pilot program consolidating certain municipalities into counties (Puerto Rico does not have a county system like most states), so they can share resources and not depend on and take away control from the central government.

Won’t change anything with the angry lez mayor who blamed Trump for the destruction. She’ll ignore it and call Trump a racist even if he were to start rebuilding houses in San Juan by hand.

You all should note some things that are not talked about in the MSM, fake news to which you are contributing with your ignorance of the issue:

1. Puerto Ricans, in general, managed on their own very well before, during and in the aftermath of the hurricane. It is widely discussed here how well we fared without any government help (local government, which essentially collapsed).

2. Puerto Ricans, in general, are very grateful for all the help we got from the states, which we showed in spades, by giving back to all the relief workers in many ways, more ways that I can count here.

3. Puerto Ricans, in general, like Trump. At least most of the people I know do!

What you hear from the media and then parrot incessantly, is what politicians, local and stateside, communicate. And if there’s one thing Puerto ricans can agree on, is that we detest politicians and what they do to us. To wit, former Illinois Congressman Luis Gutierrez, a self-appointed champion for “immigrant” rights, actually interfered with our recovery by shutting down the only company that was helping us restore power immediately after the storms. That’s just an example. I can give you a lot more where stateside democrats actually did us real, physical harm by playing politics with the disaster.

More fake news. Cora himself clarified his stance and this is widely ignored.

He says he cannot celebrate ANYTHING while the island is still in recovery, so that’s why he isn’t going to the party. He also said there were recovery failures everywhere and that he is not blaming Trump, and noted that there were many local government snafus.
