Democrats, however, are protesting the new push to protect American families from illegal immigrants in the nation’s job market.
The so-called “no-match” letter warns employers that their employees’ claimed Social Security Numbers are suspect — and so allows the employers to minimize their legal risks by quietly firing the employees who do not have a right to work. The program was stopped by President Barack Obama mainly because it was so effective at warning employers.
“It is a very good thing,” said Jessica Vaughan, policy director at the Center for Immigration Studies. She continued:
Our government knows the name, address, and place of employment of millions of illegal workers … These jobs should be for Americans and legal workers … the market would bring wages up to $15 an hour for more workers if we didn’t have so much illegal employment.
The policy should also identify the Social Security Numbers that have been stolen by illegals from Americans, she said. The government, she said:
knows that millions of Americans have had their identity stolen by these workers … They know the scale of Social Security Number misuse is massive — but they certainly don’t want to have to deal with the millions of irate Americans who have to resolve misuse of their SSN.
Many — but not all — employers will cooperate and fire the illegals, she predicted. “A lot of employers want to do the right thing, and they have been duped by false documents, and they want to get into compliance with the law.” However, the new policy will not deter the many employers who pay their illegal immigrants under the table, she said.

A guy told me there were problems with 7 of their employees, he informed them and asked them to come in and verify that he had the correct information, 6 of them just never showed up again.
True, both supply and demand must be hit. Those hiring need to know that they will be heavily fined if they don’t comply with U.S. law.

Many companies in LA have entire work forces made up of Spanish speakers. So many they have to have supervisors who are bilingual. The majority of these company owners who do this know damn well what's up.

Contractors who hire illegals know what they're doing is wrong, and can be counted on to voice that exact justification for why they don't hire American.
The truth is, they do it out of greed. They hire illegals over Americans because (and only because) illegals will work for lower wages than any law abiding American can.

if they came illegally they are not “good” people, they are law breakers and in some cases liars ( about having a kid, or asylum or other lies they tell to stay in the country) many of those “hard workers” also collect govt hand outs or get helps for free cheap assistance of many kinds. NONE of which is good for us taxpayers stuck with the bills NOR is it really good for them to reward them for all this wrong doing just because they are “hard workers” and you think that makes them good.
I say skip fine 2 and 3. Fine employer first time (maybe accidental or some thing) but if it happens a second time - it;s on purpose - they mean to break the law and hire illegal alien.

Thank you. My wife is Latina with Native American heritage (they say Indian) and she is one the most fervent patriots Ive been blessed to know. Many, many folks of Latino heritage are exemplary patriots.
Larger fines for first time offenders (the employers), second offense an even larger fine and prison time for the offending employer.
