New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said on MSNBC Monday morning his city will ban inefficient steel and glass skyscrapers as part of their Green New Deal.
While Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortezs Green New Deal sputtered in Washington D.C., her home city of New York has embraced key pillars of the plan.
When asked about it on Morning Joe, de Blasio outlined the proposal.
We are making the Green New Deal come alive here in New York City, he said. Its three very basic ideas. One, the biggest source of emissions in New York City is buildings.

They could always use shipping pallets and baling twine - spraying for city roaches should take care of the termites, too.
Maybe he is thinking of making a giant 3d printer to make them out of plastic. Then they could wrap the buildings in shrink wrap to give them a wrinkly but sleek glassy appearance.

The Empire State Building is Indiana limestone, the best building material God ever put upon this earth. Hauling millions of tons of stone around on railroad cars lost out to cheaper modern construction materials and methods, but if NYC wants to revert to stone, it’s all right with me. It would be an expensive decision to make, but heck, if New Yorkers are eager to pay the price, I wouldn’t stand in their way.

Even a broken clock is right twice daily. And de Blasio, for once is right. Steel and glass skyscrapers are bug ugly. Look at the new construction vs. the construction of the 20s-40s in NYC, and it is not even close.
Way to go, socialista Bill!

Yowwza! And these assclowns have the audacity to question the mental stability of PDJT? Srsly?
It’s Trump Derangement Syndrome writ large. Trump built skyscrapers, so they can’t be good.
Will they tear down the existing skyscrapers? I would not put it past them.
They want NYC to look like the slums of Brazil.

After reading the Twelve Caesars and learning how much Augustus loved Rome and gave great incentives to Roman citizens in both money, land and power and built Rome up with marble and wonderful buildings I am always thinking what a great leader he was, and what a great leader does for his people.
That spirit lives withing our POTUS, Trump.
De Blasio is just like so many nameless people who have held official office and done nothing or detracted from their countries.
He has no spirit of greatness. No love for the city he was elected Mayor in.

This should be a good test to see if the voters of NYC are as nutty as the people they keep electing and reelecting. If they are, then they are welcome to whatever hell they unleash on themselves.

Maybe he’s a nut case, but in the Dems’ world he’s presidential material.

Like all too many of the stories like this, the authors are big on platitudes and short on details. Like, who is going to determine the "carbon footprint" of each candidate building? Does the evaluation include all city-owned buildings like City Hall, fire stations, &c? Or is the new set of laws directly only at privately-owned buildings, particularly by owners who have not jumped on the progressive bandwagon?
Lots of questions, indeed.

On 9-11 I actually thought the Twin Towers would not collapse as the Empire State Building did not collapse when hit by a bomber in 1945 flying in fog.
I was wrong. Different building methods.
To: rktman
Well, he just lost the entire construction industry AND the mafia, all in one fell swoop.
I have a feeling that pretty much everyone in NYC is just waiting for this loser to go away. Then again, they were nuts enough to elect him in the first place, so I could be wrong.

“Mayor de Blasio has found a metropolis built of steel and glass and wishes to leave it as God know what.”
Dehydrated horse crap (but not from the old stables in Greenwich Village, which he essentially gave to a big contributor...to build something tall made out of...wait for it...GLASS AND STEEL).
