Newsweek ^ | 4/18/19 | SHANE CROUCHER

Right-wing pundit and immigration hawk Ann Coulter said she could vote and perhaps even work for democratic socialist Bernie Sanders if he stuck to his “original position” on U.S. border policy... “If he went back to that position, I'd vote for him, I might work for him. I don't care about the rest of the socialist stuff.

“I think what we need is comprehensive immigration reform… You open the borders, my god, there’s a lot of poverty in this world, and you’re going to have people from all over the world. And I don’t think that’s something that we can do at this point. Can’t do it,” Sanders said.

It echoed comments he made during the 2016 Democratic primary in which he also stood. Sanders told Vox back in a 2015 interview that open borders is a right-wing policy backed by billionaire Republican donors the Koch brothers.

“That’s a right-wing proposal, which says essentially there is no United States,” Sanders said at the time. “It would make everybody in America poorer—you’re doing away with the concept of a nation state, and I don’t think there’s any country in the world that believes in that.

“If you believe in a nation state or in a country called the United States or U.K. or Denmark or any other country, you have an obligation in my view to do everything we can to help poor people. What right-wing people in this country would love is an open-border policy.

Wow....how incredibly naive. What makes her believe that if Bernie declared such positions that he’d actually live up to them vs. just pandering for votes?

This is just childish, turns out she’s a one issue voter.

Ann says many things sarcastically. I hope this is one where she is pointing out Bernie’s opportunistic change.

Other then Trump, when was the last time any Republican raised concerns over what happens to WAGES when the migrant flood continues unabated? I have NEVER heard one Republican ever show ANY concern at all over that wage suppressing prospect.

Bernie will eat our lunch if we give him that position. I think that is what Ann is trying to do here, raise awareness.

It appears wages can never be drive low enough for Republicans.

Even the UK has higher wage growth than the USA.

I can't even stand to hear Bernie talk. What kind of speech impediment is that anyway? Not to mention the major faith, logic and reason impediments.

Sorry that Ann lost her mind.

She is a loose cannon. I don’t think any President we want her working in the White House.

It’s rhetoric - the use of exaggeration to catch people’s attention and make a point. She does that all the time. People who loved her when she was doing that in years gone by might understand what she’s doing now, but I guess it doesn’t work that way. You have to have loved some people a lot to really hate them now, and I guess they loved her a lot, so now they really hate her. If you weren’t that taken with her way in the past, you won’t hate her so much now.

When she tries to draw equivalence between Dems and Republicans by pointing out the business lobby of the Republican Party supports amnesty when it comes to open borders she is wrong. They do but the business lobby is a very small part of the Republican party. Most Republicans and conservatives are like the folks on Free Republic and do not support amnesty. Most Dems with the exception of a few support amnesty because for them that is where the votes are despite that it would be ruinous to the country.Sanders will grant amnesty as soon as he is elected and then go on to destroy the economy. She is being foolishly outrageous.

very strange woman..!!

Agreed!! She is probably bi-polar and off her meds, I’ve seen other people destroy everything they’ve accomplished in a similar manner.

Outside of blond hair, long legs and boobs, I could never figure out why such a b*tchy broad ever had such mass appeal.

I believe it’s proof that for many men, the little man does the thinking.

It is amazing how quickly and seamlessly the media will embrace and celebrate some who they previously demonized simply because person became publically anti-Trump. Most of us remember the McCain presidential campaign and how he was treated by the media only to become a “national hero” when he was sought undermine the President.
