More immigrants than Americans resettle in California, report shows

The Golden State is still a magnet for immigrants who want to build a life in the United States, but it’s a less attractive destination for other Americans.

A new report from Governing Magazine shows that California is unlike other western states in that most of its newcomers arrive from foreign destinations instead of other American states.

Southern California has the highest proportion of foreign-born residents. Los Angeles County, for instance, has nearly as many foreign-born adults as American-born residents. About 3.1 million foreign-born adults live there, while 2.3 million native California adults and 1.2 million Californians from other American states reside in Los Angeles County.

3.1 million foreign born Democrat voters. Anyhow I think I know the cause of the much talked about California housing shortage crisis.

That’s because citizens usually come in fully taxed, and immigrants start out on the benefits side of the government.

Isn’t it great that all those Americans fought and died in all those wars so that the 3.1 million “foreign-born adults” can “move there” as they usually say when an illegal barges the gates and takes up residence in LA?

so many foreigners have pumped so many billions of dollars into the Californicaation housing market.. that regular Americans can’t afford it anymore. (Article in major leftist Cal newspaper yesterday about how high cost of living is there... that $400,000 income people complain they can’t live well even on that astronomical wage level. Also, a local realtor ran some numbers on a relatively unattractive 70 year old 1200 square foot tract house on a small lot....$440,000 just for down payment and buyer share of closing costs...to close escrow and the bank requires a $390,000 income with no long term debts like car or other loan payments....to get the house purchase loan.) Regular Americans, even those with advanced degrees or other high qualifications/skills, are getting the hell out. Oh yeah, did we mention the astronomical taxes!?

Prove me wrong: Act like the longstanding American citizens of Hispanic heritage by getting a job (or a 2nd one) and taking care of your family, learning English as a second language and contributing to this country. Millions did that.

A coworker and friend of mine years ago picked fruit all day with his family as a youngster and then went to college and never looked back. I’m sure the many people like him don’t appreciate losers invading the borders illegally.

Everybody seems to think "foreign California immigrant" means Mexican. That just isn't the case any more. Asia surpassed Latin America as the leading source of recent immigrants to California and did so a long time ago.

In our small town on the San Francisco peninsula, almost every house purchase has a Chinese or Indian buyer. Almost none are sold to Caucasians any more. When we moved in 35 years ago, you were hard pressed to find anybody from China or India. Now, on downtown streets, you hear English spoken in maybe less than half of the conversations.

Yep - one of apartment buildings in southern California used to be about 75% white and 25% Hispanic in the 80’s. Now, it’s about 70% Indian, 25% Chinese, and 5% Hispanic.
