Democrats in New York killed a proposal for tuition assistance for children of veterans killed in battle and instead approved a bill to give illegals free tuition.
The New York Republican Party slammed the Democrats on Twitter saying, “Democrats just rejected tuition assistance for Gold Star families but approved it for illegal immigrants. Would these Democrats dare to look into the eyes of the children of fallen servicemen and women and say they matter less than those here illegally?”
Empire State Democrats quashed a bill on Tuesday that would have provided free tuition for Gold Star families that had lost a child killed in the line of duty in service to the country.
“The Assembly’s Higher Education Committee voted 15 to 11 to hold the bipartisan bill, effectively ending its chances of making it to a floor vote this session,” according to Syracuse.com.
But the move comes only a week after the same legislature passed a $175 billion state budget that contained $27 million to give free tuition to illegal aliens.

This isn’t the first case of this (though it may have broader reaction due to the circumstances involved); back when Joe Wilson yelled “You lie!” at Obama (regarding the inclusion of illegals in ObamaCare - he was right, Obama was lying), it turned out that part of ObamaCare was funded by cuts to Medicare. Very clearly, the interests of the illegals it would cover were put before the interests of the retirees who saw Medicare cut - and nobody seemed to care.
Heard Friday that the bill is getting another look.
A friend’s half Filipino, half white son listed himself as Hispanic on his PSAT test. He missed the score for non-minority National Merit Finalist by 2 points in his state. He surpassed the score needed for Hispanic National Merit by many points.
Same kid, same score, could have a free ride at some colleges, or nothing depending on his ethnicity. It’s not right for him to take it, but the system is not right either. I don’t know what he will do next year, but the guidance counselor signed off on it, and he looks Hispanic.
I’m torn. A free ride would be a blessing to him and his family.
We need to ship these subversive SOBs out of this country.

IMO many of the Democrats who claim to love the military, really consider them as lowlifes and losers who love weapons and can’t make it in the civilian work force. Growing up in Bernie’s and Chuckie’s neighborhood, the word for a volunteer soldier was schmuck. Why is it a surprise to see an illegal getting more than the family of a patriot? You have a sympathetic politician who is more interested in getting votes to keep them in power than the welfare of the family of a KIA. Hey its NYC, its what they do ........ but 15 minutes, can save you 15% or more.....

Yes - the woman (Andrea Stewart Cousins) who leads the Senate in NYS would have no problem doing this.
I know because I was there at the NY state capital the week before the horrendous abortion expansion bill when she processed into the Egg auditorium like a queen for the Cuomo (baby killer) state of the state speech.
Sadly, I can assure you that she would have no problem looking into their eyes and turning down their tuition.
Pray for New York State.
I DO NOT want New Yorkers coming down South.
Eventually, they’ll vote in more radical democrats where ever they go, because they want the social safety net there, too. Plus, “it’s not fair!” is their mantra for politics.

And all of the people we know escaping NY are rock-ribbed conservatives any state would love to have.

Or are they hoping to ignore it and Trump won’t notice.

I feel about universities the way lefties feel about corporations.
They have ballooned into our biggest threat, with not many people realizing how dangerous they are.

I'd love to be so, but my opinion shows that states such as North Carolina, Virginia and Georgia are being turned Leftward by carpetbaggers from the Northeast.
Anyway, I'd love to see stats one way or the other...

These are people we KNOW. (And envy.) And of that small subset of the folks leaving NYS, 100% are conservative.
I’ve been wondering about those stats, BTW.
