Maybe the Jetsons were climate change activists?
A new study shows that the cartoon family was on to something when they used a flying car for transportation.
Several companies and even agencies such as NASA have been scrambling to create flying cars, hoping to launch the service in the next decade, and that may be a part of the answer to help curb climate change, according to a new study.
The study compared the energy use of the electric version of flying cars, known as electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft or VTOLs, to that of traditional and electric cars. The study also looked at the time-saving aspect of the vehicles and their overall energy use.
According to the study, fully loaded with a pilot and three passengers, flying electric cars would have about 52% lower greenhouse gas emissions than traditional cars and would generate 6% lower greenhouse gas emissions than electric cars over trips of 100 kilometers, about 62 miles.
The study found that flying cars wouldn't necessarily be more sustainable on a short commute compared with electric vehicles, but they would be a good sustainable alternative for longer trips.
The authors conclude that more research is needed to see exactly how viable flying cars are in terms of cost and noise.

If there were a way to ASSURE that spewed pollutants were scattered far and wide across the world, the replacement of commercial and private use aircraft, using airport hubs to move from one destination to another, with personal aerial transportation departing from individual housing locations, would most certainly be the way to achieve that objective.
That is, if you buy into the belief that carbon dioxide is a pollutant. Carbon dioxide is no more of a pollutant than water, and both are ESSENTIAL for life as we know it.
But the much larger problem would be the sheer congestion of the skies and far too many near misses and dreadful pile-up collisions midair, with the cataclysmic accumulation of wreckage on the surface below.
There is a reason “flying cars” have never caught on except in the popular imagination. Back to the Future or not.
RIIGHTT... and the moon is made of Swiss cheese.
No wonder CNN’s ratings are in the toilet.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.
5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.
