Suspended Broward Sheriff Scott Israel lost his best chance of getting his job back before the 2020 election when a judge ruled Thursday that Gov. Ron DeSantis had every legal right to remove him from office earlier this year.
Broward Circuit Judge David Haimes did not indicate whether he agreed with the governor, but he affirmed that DeSantis was legally justified when he replaced Israel with acting Sheriff Gregory Tony in January.

Do you think that the Colorado or Washington State Governors might remove the brave Sheriffs who refuses to enforce asinine gun laws that were recently voted in by gullible citizens?

I was thinking about that when I read the article. The Sheriff’s who might resist can make a case that the laws are unconstitutional. Maybe the Governors can remove them, and maybe the voters can put them back into office. If anywhere, I would look to California and expect that Newsome or his AG would be treacherous enough to do this.

The deputy who stood by got a pension of $105,264/year. I wonder how much sheriff israel gets?

Runcie looked mighty worried (below) when the Sun Sentinel caught up with him for the story of multiple
exiting school officials....all of them subjects of the murdered students parents' escalating anger.
Supt Runcie alerted School Board members of the departure of human resources' Nichols, head since 2015 who ignorantly
overruled the firing of a school security guard found sexually harassing students, including one of the murdered students.
Parents were outraged to learn that School Security Guard Medina was still employed by the school.
In fact, Medina was the first to see Cruz on school property carrying a rifle bag that infamous day BUT DID NOTHING ABOUT IT.
Runcie placed the blame solely on the exiting Nichols. “Mr. Nichols signed off on it,” Runcie said at the time.
“I was not aware of it until after it was brought up." That’s all the $400,000 Supt had to say.
NOTE: Harasser Medina and another security type whose performance on Feb. 14 was deemed ineffective were let go.

The Florida sheriff’s deputy on duty during the Parkland massacre — hiding in a stairwell at one point — could be stripped of his retirement benefits. Scott Peterson resigned from the Broward Sheriff’s Office after facing widespread criticism......but was allowed to keep his $8,702 monthly pension, collected since last April.
The disgraced Broward cop worked at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School as a school resource officer when gunman Nikolas Cruz started taking out students. The teen killed 17 people — while Peterson took cover in a stairwell outside. According to police officials, Peterson knew Cruz was inside the school building, but he retreated.
Rep. Spencer Roach (R-North Fort Myers) introduced legislation to remove Peterson’s benefits from the Florida Retirement System. “He was at the front of that building and he didn’t enter,” explained Max Schachter, member of the school’s Public Safety Commission. “He could have done something,” Schacter said. “Why did he go away and hide?” Roach’s legislation to strip away Peterson’s benefits will be up for consideration during the legislative session starting March 5.
