The mainstream media has been bombarding Western countries with news about the need to phase out plastic from our daily lives in order to protect the environment, focusing on the Worlds oceans. But how much of that plastic is actually the Wests fault? Its easy to see awareness campaigns about trapped animals in all sorts of trash and wanting to do something in order to prevent it from happening again. Lately, the mainstream media has been on a crusade against the horrors of plastic in developed nations, targeting disposable items such as plastic bags and plastic straws. Are they preaching to the right audience, though? In short no. If they want their campaign to be effective, the slogans should be written in Mandarin, Hindi or any African language. First of all, the disposal of waste in Western nations (and also other developed countries such as Japan or South Korea) is treated very differently than in developing nations in continents such as Africa and Asia.

Dollar Tree has them for a buck.
Homo Sapiens Plasticus.
Both high temperature incinerators and “rocket stoves” should be built globally to burn all the garbage. Clean up all bodies of water and burn the solids. This can be done in the oceans where a high temp incinerator is built into barges which are towed by collecting ships. Feed the garbage into the incinerators.
Problem like everything else is it is always political rather than practical. If we wanted, we could clean up the worlds bodies of water within 5-10 years.
Just an FYI.....a week ago we had lunch at a favorite restaurant in our former home valley in California. We asked for straws and the waitress brought them AND they were plastic. We were expecting paper straws and were surprised. And paper straws usually dont even last through a whole soda.....they just disintegrate into your drink.
LOL! One of my biggest pet peeves too. I HATE packaging. I know, it’s one of many ways to help prevent theft.
P.S. I like the Lays stackables better myself.
They’re kids. They get what they get. LOL!
What a great quote!
And if its true that plastic is not degradable,
I’ve picked a lot of old plastic bags and the like out of leaf piles where they been for a year or two, and they are disintegrating from the UV if nothing else.
Envirowacko propaganda
We lose low mass gases and gain millions of tons of meteorite yearly.
I make sure that when I get fast food, I grab an extra handful just to piss her off.
I even turned on the lights in my garden shed. I would have fired up the space heater too but it would have overloaded the circuit.
It really annoys me when I open a bottle of any otc tablets and find it only half full. So much plastic, so few pills. Even though there are 100 or more inside.
The real tragedy about the environment is that its been so politicized that to target the actual problem, and solution, is obscured in the milieu of Marxist rhetoric. The left is destroying any serious chance of effective environmental action.
LOL.. Leftists are the Biggest Hypocrites alive. I saw the trendy commercial promoting ‘Erf Hour’.. Didn’t realize it was yesterday otherwise I would have put on every light in the house.
Conservatives conserve every freakin’ day! Leftists conserve one day when everyone is watching. They disgust me.
I used to work at a factory that was mostly African and Asian immigrants. They were good workers but they were the worst litterbugs I’ve ever seen. Management tried to tell them the birds would eat the earplugs and choke to death, but to no avail. They still tossed them on the parking lot instead of in the trash.
The extra space is for air to puff up the bag and prevent chip breakage. Yes, I am serious.
Exactly. Plastic has always been here, since before there were humans. The elements which compose plastic were just in different locations and rearranged differently. In fact, when you get right down to it, plastic is just as organic as tofu, mung beans, kombucha tea, or a porterhouse steak.
“Snow skiing hills”? That will probably happen with the global cooling starting.
It is my understanding that they use nitrogen, not air. This greatly extends shelf life, keeps your chips fresh by eliminating oxidation. And yes, the bag is big and puffed up so you don’t get home with a bag of stale crumbs.
