It is the same situation at USC in CA. supposed to be an ELITE school YET it is surrounded by ghettos very dangerous area!!!
Many of these campuses were established long ago when the adjoining neighborhoods were much different demographics or completely non-existent and they wouldn’t DARE suggest moving away now....it would be so politically incorrect.
It is sad, I was under the impression that most African Blacks are violent too. Certainly the Somalis are...
Tragic.
No question; they know better than anyone else.
My town borders Newark NJ (with a moat in between - the Passaic River), and since everything of value in Newark is either nailed down, locked away, or pillaged, the ferals raid the outlying suburbs on the frontiers.
As horrible as the urban welfare reservations are, they are a necessary evil to incentivize work; their has to be a benefit to me busting my hump versus able-bodied adults who play all day and much of the night (after they awake at noon)...
Women are the Weaker Sex. Girl Power is a myth. One of their greatest defenses is recognizing that, exercising caution, and cultivating the friendship of males who will protect them - you know, the despised heterosexual white male conservative Christians.
I don’t disagree with many of your comments. Columbia does have a crime problem, but it is not a sh1thole like the poster said. I have lived and worked in 12 states. All of them had crime problems. Columbia has areas that people should avoid. Five Points at 3 am is one of them. I am very sorry about what happened to this young lady and I hope the perp is fried, but USC is a great university and Columbia is a better than average small town, with pockets of crime just like most cities.
Now the “Fake Kids Actor Parents” cockroach is crying because crime and race statistics hurt his/her delicate liberal feelings. Sorry princess but facts don’t always conform to your left wing world view. Now scuttle away. Stalk someone else (please don’t stalk the parents of murdered kids like your fellow SH truther scumbags)
Yeah.
But its coming.
I dont rule that out. But I think my scenario is more commonplace. That is after all the bars close down and people loose their vigilance. She was in quite the rip-roaring watering hole part of that college town at 2400 hours
Never get in a car without asking the ride share driver specifically who are you to pick up? Rather than stupidly asking are you my ride? Or are you Joe? Any murderer or rapist would just say Yes. Hop right in.
In other words, it was not his first rodeo.
I agree
Calling entire places shitholes seems to be a habit of Freepers who dont get out much
Cite Soliel in Port Au Prince is a literal shithole
Nowhere in the USA like that
Columbia SC has a major black crime problem
You are spot on. Its funny how those in denial about how dangerous Columbia and U of S Carolina are always resort to bringing up Clemson, which is the antithesis of USC. The truth hurts.
Now isn’t that cute. Clemson has plenty of crime, but they have absolute control of the news cycle so you very rarely hear about it. You can defend them to the rest of the country that has never been there, but I have my friend and live down the road from there and see it with my own two eyes. Columbia is a metropolis compared to Clemson. Of course, with more people you get more crime. I can assure you I am not in denial. You, on the other hand, appear to be drinking the orange kool-aid.
Anyone on this board older than 35 can tell tales of what their lives were like growing up and I KNOW they were very much like mine-open windows, unlocked doors, etc. We NEVER ever locked our doors when I was a kid and we lived in a pretty rough, working class sort of area. When I was 18 I had a job waitressing at a jazz club downtown. I routinely parked my car (that I am sure was not locked) in a park blocks away and would walk to it at 2-3AM alone--not only was I never accosted, I was never even really too worried about it happening.
THIS was stolen from our children and grandchildren. Or more accurately it was given away for the promise of what?
That was my initial thought. Driving slowly in an area frequented by drunk college females late at night to see if anyone thought he was a ride-share.
Agree with all of your points.
Also: How about if a pal of the perp was the actual Uber driver, and upon seeing Samantha’s photo pop up on the request for an Uber at 2am, the actual Uber driver told his pal to go pick her up in his vehicle, which would have already been displaying an Uber plaque on the window?
My niece was a sorority sister of Imette St. Guillen’s at George Washington University. It was awful, horrible & devastating the day we found out she was murdered. She’s buried in her hometown of West Roxbury, MA.
Possible, but probably too complex.
I completely agree. Things are out of control and perhaps we need to have a reset. The politicians who turn a blind eye need to be gone, one way or the other. You are absolutely right that our grandkids deserve a better place. I am not defending crime or criminals. I am only saying Columbia and USC are not as bad as some think or are trying to portray it. God bless this poor young woman and her family.
