Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has expressed his opinion on Saturday's fracas between an anti-immigrant senator and the teenager who smashed an egg on his head during a press event. Morrison said Sunday that Senator Fraser Anning should feel the full force of the law for allegedly punching the teen who egged him.

"The real cause of bloodshed on New Zealand streets today is the immigration program which allowed Muslim fanatics to migrate to New Zealand in the first place."
Interesting. Are you not allowed to strike back in self-defense down under?
Hit me with an egg and I’ll hit you in the fact with a fist.
Kashmira has it ass backwards. You can’t assault someone and not allow a response. The quotes in the story are sad.
Remember the Senator in the US that was not hit by an egg but shot in the head ?
what about the boy who egged the Senator? Anything going to happen to him for assault?
Isn’t it funny how all the elite politicians are against any kind of violence, offensive or defensive, as long as they have their armed guards.
Frikkin’ idiocy Kiwi style.
This is the same mentality that puts people in prison for defending against home invaders.
You are - and I would be very surprised if Anning is charged. He is lucky somebody held him back though, because if he had continued to respond, he would have likely crossed the threshold Australia allows for self defence. Fortunately he had a friend there who held him back (which is what a mate does in these circumstances in the Australian conception).
The situation is more complicated for the other men who restrained the boy - I can see a couple of them being in trouble because they got involved after the boy was effectively restrained.
The boy should also be charged, although he would likely get off with a police caution if he’s never done anything like this before (and personally I think that would be reasonable).
He came up behind the senator and then he got slapped. He wasnt punched watch the tape..
What the hell kind of s-—hole country are they running down under? Someone assaults/batters you and you can’t hit back? Seriously?
“...allegedly punching the teen who egged him.”
A lie in the very first line of the Newsweek article.
The Senator DID NOT punch him but rather slapped him....and not even a full force “slap”.
What an outrageous and irresponsible thing to say.
Even elected officials HERE who I strongly dislike need to be protected from the rabble, and offenders need to be prosecuted to the maximum permitted by law. Anything less leads to anarchy.
Hopefully, the equivalent of their Secret Service will allow somebody to explain this to the PM with a turd pie to the face.
The right of self defence does apply in Australian law. Morrison is facing an almost unwinnable election in a couple of months and is desperate to try and get votes, so he’s spouting off.
No way,Jose!
The guy who assaulted the senator should face the full force of the law.
I am hoping that the little sh** resisted arrest.
A lot.
