Full Title: Policewoman is shot dead by colleague in France as the pair played a game to see who was fastest on the draw
A French policewoman has been shot dead by her own colleague after they played a game of Wild West-style 'fast draw' with their firearms.
The 27-year-old woman and her 28-year-old colleague were standing guard at the entrance of the Paris police force's headquarters in the capital on Sunday.
The pair reportedly decided to start playing with their weapons and drew their guns on one another, at which point one went off by accident.

It hasn’t been that long since a couple of Darwin Award winners played Russian roulette with a full-clip semi-auto handgun.
I think it's pretty clear.

I think it ironic you mention Angie Dickinson today when there are a number of Sopranos anniversary threads running. Dickinson was the object of Uncle Junior’s lust mentioned on several episodes.
A female police officer was shot by her partner in a similar incident in St. Louis, MO in January, 2019.

Very sad in both cases, really.
My ex-wife was a former Hanford Patrol (security at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation). Her team was a assigned a new guy with the last name of Bright. One night he was assigned duty at road barricade. He decided he would play with his pistol and shot himself in the foot. Prior to that he had already earned the nickname “Notso” Bright...

Using a "modified Weaver" hold/stance:
Note that, until step 5., the weapon is SAFE -- and, within a millisecond of dropping it, is inert.

Less well known is the fact that a trained user can disable the weapon so that it cannot be fired with a simple 90 degree twist of the thumb. This "unlatches" the striker, so that the weapon is inert, and cannot be fired. At this point, squeezing the grip-cocker ejects the striker, so it can be stored elsewhere. No need for a trigger lock!
