Hurting California Republicans chose a party insider Sunday to lead them forward after their party suffered stinging defeats in 2018, rejecting two candidates backed by activists who favored a stronger embrace of President Donald Trump.
The California Republican Partys delegates had to decide where the party would go next with its leadership, and a majority of about 1,200 delegates chose Jessica Patterson, who previously headed a Republican candidate recruitment and training program.

The Country Club wing of the party maintains its death grip on a party dying a slow death in California.
If you don't lead, nobody will follow. The California GOP is incapable of leading as demonstrated with this vote.
Agree. Time....HELL it’s past time to leave.
It took MANY years of being on FR before I DROPPED the mantra of “we need someone who can win” to run for president.
And that we need someone with “experience”.
In other words, a RINO.
We CAN WIN with hardcore conservatives and outsiders.
Liker, umm...Trump!!!
Rs are so afraid of a few of our position that not all would agree with.
But NO VOTER expects to agree down the list.
Stop worrying and stand for what you are supposed to stand for.
And fight back.
Like Trump.
His gut have rubbed off on some, just not nearly enough
Looks like the Dewey-Rockefeller-Ford-Bush 41-Bush 43-Jeb! wing of the party has triumphed again.
GOPee in Death Spiral...
All two of them at the convention in the local Denny’s
Post 4 Amen
Reagan country got stuck with that sucker (yes sucker) Michael Huffington.
No good big tenters.
Life in Mission County!!!!
They wouldn’t Be hurting if they’d quit apologizing and Be Republicans
Does anyone know anything about this Jessica Patterson other than her being an insider in the GOP? I mean really is this the best they can do? A GOP lackey who headed a Republican candidate recruitment and training program is qualified to lead the state Republican Party?
I’m not familiar with Patterson at all. I heard Travis Allen interviewed on the radio, and he sounded good and enthusiastic.
I’ve met at a couple of fund raisers.
Unfortunately, she is not the right choice to lead the California GOP. She was elected because she’s close buds with McCarthy, is Hispanic, and a long time member of the GOP. But, she’s not a ball of fire - I keep thinking someone is pulling the strings to make her talk.
Yeah forget the big tent.
too many freaks sneak in.
Stop being afraid of fighting against a holocaust (abortion) and gay marriage (an abomination).
People will still vote for a conservative based on many other issues. At least enough to win elections.
It started with conservatives nominating Bill Simon Jr. in 2002. Next it was not showing up for Arnolds special election in 2005 that had 5 CONSERVATIVE propositions on the ballot. All we had to do was show up. Arnold went rino after that.
We need a Trump
It’s a shame.
Gezzz...Like a worn out dog walking in circles and not knowing why. The party has been in decline for decades but they're still scratching their heads trying to decide where the party will go. Gak
The CAGOP died when they backstabbed McClintock to push Arnie when Davis got booted. He was a RINO from the beginning. They haven’t supported an actual conservative since. They have no bench of young up-and-comers, and all the old dogs have retired or lost.
My god, but they're pig-fornicatingly stupid.
(And corrupt; and complicit.)
