The twisted case of Jussie Smollett is depressing, infuriating — and should end with the maximum prison sentence. But I predict he’ll skate.
The reprehensible alleged actions of the gay, black fabulist who cried “MAGA” will be forgiven, excused and ultimately encouraged by sympathetic progressives — deemed justifiable Trumpicide.
And it will happen again. And again.
Smollett, who claimed he was attacked outdoors by a pair of racist, homophobic white Trumpsters on a frigid Jan. 29 in Chicago, transformed Wednesday from the purported target of a vicious hate crime to a lying, alleged felonious hoaxster.
But the fact that the assault seems not to have happened, at least not technically, is an insignificant detail to lefty Democratic presidential hopefuls, celebs and assorted fans, who tucked into the delicious outrage initially as if it were a three-course vegan meal.
Because Smollett has already set himself up with an alibi. He’s a marginalized person, a real-life victim of psychological assault in Donald Trump’s America.
Consider the initial reaction from the echo chamber. Both Sens. Cory Booker and Kamala Harris hysterically, and almost in unison, termed the fake drubbing of the 36-year-old “Empire’’ actor an “attempted modern-day lynching.’’
NAACP president Derrick Johnson tweeted, “The rise in hate crimes is directly linked to President Donald J. Trump’s racist and xenophobic rhetoric.” Sen. Bernie Sanders. Ex-Vice President Joe Biden. Hillary Clinton. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Rosie O’Donnell. Rob Reiner. Ellen Page! Everyone with an agenda and a microphone should be embarrassed for saying they were shocked! shocked! that such intolerance could flourish in present-day America.

I’m sure some closeted addiction will come to light, some mental illness undiagnosed or unmedicated or improperly medicated.
Unless it’s a bench trial he will skate. The defense knows this. It will just be expensive to keep him out of jail but he won’t do time.
I do have some hope that he will pay a stiff price. I watched the press conference, after the hearing, where the DA’s office laid out the very damning timeline, in great detail. I’m sure it can be found on YouBoob. It would appear that he has angered quite a few in government. So, barring he pulls a sympathetic jury, or successfully throws himself on the mercy of the court, he may very well do a little time. I’m hoping for a hard smack-down from the Feds.
Good possibility.
Maybe because the cops spelled his name wrong, like as in the title of this thread?
Sloppy work like that can let bad guys run free.

Any ordinary American who did what he did would be in a world of hurt. Especially if that OA was already on probation for another case of lying to authorities.
Of course he will walk free. There is an anti-Trump element in the story that will give him a free pass from any Chicago jury.
He ought not walk away without doing jail time. This is the second time that Smollet has misled police authorities by engaging in lying. The first instance was a traffic case in California where he lied about his identity to avoid a DUI. He was caught and wound up spending three days in jail. The fake hate crime hoax was far worse. It could have provoked racial unrest and it caused the Chicago Police to spend almost a month investigating his bogus charges. He deserves no less that six months in jail for a guilty plea.

We can thank the Police Chief...he let the media and celbs have it..they could have said we cannot find anything one way or the other..
If he has his way he will be in jail a long time...

Talk about tainting the jury pool
A white guy would be wearing a ballistic vest over a prison jumpsuit while struggling with ankle restraints while guided by a swarm of steely-eyed law enforcement into a van with bars, and whisked to a secure location for ‘processing’.
If the two brothers accused of attacking Smollett were dead, Jussie Smollett could walk free by a Chicago jury. However, they aren’t Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. They will testify against Smollett and he will be found guilty.
To all the democrat candidates we are wasting time with poor Jussie when we should be pursuing the MAGA criminals who are committing this type crime every day in every American city. It’ll be just like Ralph Northam aka coonman, the black faced KKK southern governor. Outrage from the left, then swept under the rug. The only problem the left and Hollyweird has with Jussie and his scheme is that it was so clumsy it didn’t work.
No doubt. I'm already on record that another member of the protected class (gay, black, tranny, muzzie, illegal, whatever) will perpetrate another made up, fabricated, outrageous, lying hoax against white people in less than 3 days from now.
The national media attention will be focused on that and the usual idiots will immediately believe it and begin condemning MAGA/Trump supporters.
This is all direct from the Alinsky/Obama playbook. To divert attention from the latest democratic scandal - make up a new scandal even worse than the last.
This works. Just ask Gov. Northam and the other bigots in Virginia who are no longer the focus of hatred. Or ask Maxine Waters whose ignorance and stupidity has been upstaged by that Omar woman and that chick with the big teeth.
