Authorities have issued subpoenas to obtain records from Empire’s Jussie Smollett amid reports the actor-singer allegedly staged a racist and homophobic attack on himself last month, according to a report Wednesday.

The report comes as lawyers for Smollett meet with prosecutors and police investigators.
Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said he did not know if Smollett was attending the meeting or the specifics of what was being discussed. He declined to confirm reports that subpoenas had been issued for the actor’s phone and bank records.
Smollett’s lawyers, Todd Pugh and Victor P. Henderson, did not reply to AP requests for comment Wednesday.

This Jussie Smollett thing, is just the latest example of “fake bigotry hate crimes”. For some reason spoiled (misnamed) “progressives” feel a real need to be victims... and they’re cheered on by an unquestioning media! Trump has really messed with their heads! ‘Cause just when we think they can get no more insane... they get insanier!
He’ll blame it on drugs, cry a lot, cut a deal, and go to rehab.

These guys played a part in this hoax, and I do no understand why they don’t seem to be in trouble.
They should be in jail for ‘conspiracy to commit fraud’.
That charge may require a dollar amount to have exchanged hands, so I can’t say legally if they are exposed or not, but it sure would seem so.

I can't believe the cast and crew at Empire aren't furious with him for the letter hoax! He let them believe he was targeted - AT WORK - they had to wonder if they were next for death threats and mysterious "white powder"

I used to think he would get off with a slap on the wrist. Now I am not so sure. I wonder if the CPD and media are going to make an example out of him. It’s not what he did so much as the embarrassment he caused when their bias trapped them. Even the media has to know they have been played as fools.
Something tells me the cops actually DO have video of the meeting between Smollett and the two brothers and there was no assault, maybe even money being exchanged on camera. It would seem very hard to get a conviction without it.
Well, this being his second go-round on these charges, it appears he needs more than a gentle reminder that this “stuff” has to stop.
Not to single you out, but to make a point, it seems to me this is a violation of the civil rights of Whites, charging them for a racial act (...of hatred [I know, I know]), when it wasn’t true.
He could be changed with that as well, if they were to give it some thought.
