PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — Sen. Kamala Harris told a crowd Monday that she would push for the federal government to rename Columbus Day “Indigenous Peoples’ Day," a focal point for some progressives who say the holiday should emphasize the history of Native Americans instead of the European conquerer.
“Sign me up,” Harris said in response to a voter's question of whether she would support the initiative to rename the holiday. She spoke of her own efforts in the Senate to make lynching a federal crime.

Minus the /s, I agree with that statement.
I think that every culture that the world has known and - more importantly - INDIVIDUALS who came out of those cultures, have contributed to our knowledge and abilities. We haven’t yet figured out a lot of those contributions, yet.
But to deny the accomplishments and contributions to modern culture and society of so-called ‘White’ Europeans is just stupid. We live technologically, philosophically and religiously in a world that was predominantly created by them.
Why must the MSM report every eruption from her orifices?
And I would support changing MLK day to International Communists Day.

The left love finding someone to blame for stuff. If Columbus hadn’t come to this side of the pond, someone else would have. Besides ... he never set foot in what is now the USA. So he’s not to blame for what happened to Native Americans.

When are we Americans going to get tired of having to apologize for our civilization? Do other countries in the Americas that have largely European populations have to apologize? Here’s something I’ll “sign up” for — an Indigenous Peoples Day in addition to Columbus Day. I’ll bet this one won’t. If she hasn’t said it, I’ll bet she has thought it — we live on “occupied” land. My earliest ancestors in America came here 400 years ago. Other ancestors were in Illinois before it became a state.I was born here. When do I get to be considered a native?
And she wants to be president of a country that she believes is essentially illegitimate.

I’ll own up to the tragedies and even crimes committed in the settling of this country — slavery, Jim Crow, the treatment of American Indians, the wanton slaughter of bison to near-extinction. But my honesty also requires me to acknowledge that some of the American Indians were hardly angels. Read LaSalle’s journals for his account of coming upon an Indian village in Illinois that was completely slaughtered — men, women, and children— and grotesquely mutilated by another Indian tribe.
I’ll own up to our history, and still maintain, with history on my side, that we have created the best country that ever was, one that has played an indispensable role in creating the good things of the modern world.

Their ancestors came here from Asia over the land bridge that today is Alaska’s Aleutian Islands.
They are First Peoples, their ancestors were here first, but like everyone else, their ancestors came here from elsewhere.
