President Trump on Friday signed a spending package to avert another government shutdown, his top spokesman said.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters Trump approved the measure on Friday afternoon in the executive mansion. Reporters were not on hand to witness the bill signing.
The move came hours after Trump announced during a freewheeling, 50-minute news conference that he is declaring a national emergency to bypass Congress and obtain $8 billion for his long-desired border wall, a move that triggered a major legal showdown with Democrats.

I still don’t believe it.
I suspect Trump will let it die instead of signing it.
Darn he signed it was hoping he would veto it
Here come the FLeepers in 3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . .
DARN! How could he have tied his own hands with all the dummocrap traps written into that piece of garbage bill?
I’ll be the First! Is there an upside to this?
If you are involved in human trafficking, yes.
Which bill was worse? The bill Trump wouldn’t sign a couple of weeks ago or the one he just did?
My ultimate question is should Trump have signed the original and declared the emergency then and we wouldn’t have the welcome mat that is the current bill?
And then my question is why didn’t Mr. 4d chess have the foresight to see where this was going...
...or did he?
The media really loves saying ‘shutdown’ and will keep saying it as long as they can until it becomes obvious to everyone that they are trying to stir up discontent.
I’m already bored with this story. What’s next?
Are you implying President Trump is involved in human trafficking?
That was rhetorical, I see you are. Youll blah, blah, but you are.
Fiery anger deleted.
I’ve learned to give up on 2nd guessing what Trump will or will not do. What he should or should not do.
That was nonsensical.
I am reminded of President Bush with the "deer in the headlights" look after the Dems came and forced him to sign TARP to avert the end of the world. It was a bad deal then, too...
That fun? Make you feel smart?
Wise move.
What you wrote is clear to see.
White hot anger deleted,
Sure, not that it will convince those who automatically think Trump is an idiot every time he does something they don’t understand.
Now he and Congress are partners in wall-building. They’ve agreed with the principle but haven’t allocated enough money, so he’ll take what they have authorized and get more to go with it. No more “vanity project” because Congress would never fund that would they?
He’s shifted the debate from “walls are immoral” to ways and means to pay for them, and how quickly they can be built.
I can only explain, I can’t make people understand. But I can point to years of failure in getting the conservative agenda enacted and at how much Trump has done and will do, and say that the perfect is the enemy of the good. In the end all that matters is results, and Trump will get them.
Looks like he/we lost. Maybe he’s not as smart is some think. In fact, he hopes we are dumb. In election he’ll claim he went to bat for us, it’s those bad democrats, but all the while he bumbled all the way to the finish line.
We convinced Trump he better come up with the wall.
So that”s all he had in mind.
