MCCONNELL; Trump has said he will sign the spending bill AND issue an emergency declaration at the same time.
HUH..can you do that? So wait, I had heard he would NOT sign the bill
My question is....can the money attained by the national emergency be spent the way he wants, or does he have to abide by the bill regarding restrictions? I would assume that the ridiculous butterfly regulations only affect the $1.375 billion.
From the Senate floor:
@SenateMajLdr: “I’ve indicated to (Trump) that I’m going to support the national emergency declaration.”
YES!!!!!
Assuming the imperial courts don't order him to stop.
yes
Please, PLEASE! don’t sign that damn bill. It gives cover to the rat republicans in congress. I think they have screwed us enough. Trump should cite the reasons he is vetoing the bill and sent it back to congress.
LOL and confusion reigns supreme
From what I understand about this bill, the 1.3 billion for the border wall, ANY border mayor can opt out of it..so it takes a few liberal mayors to say “Well thanks but no thanks”
But, that spending bill STINKS!! Too much $$ for the ivaders and govt workers!!
Trying to please BOTH bases??
Seems like Trump has a plan !
This is from Garrett Haake, MSNBC. Why the semicolon?
That’s awesome. Demonrats are going to have exploding skulls.
Uh huh. Sure. That’s the ticket.
I do agree that the bill should be vetoed
I don’t understand the need for a national emergency declaration.
First, the President has Constitutional authority to control the borders. He can stop pipelines and build walls with his plain vanilla authority.
He is also the CINC of the military. There are military lands and military construction all over the nation. There is MILCON construction. The President does not have to declare an emergency for there to be a building built on an Air Force base.
In any event, he needs funding, but why the need for a special declaration of emergency.
Brilliant.
The Dems will shut down the govt rather than allow Trump that opportunity. Shutdown is all on them.
Why bother with a national emergency for a ‘wall’ when the bill makes most of the wall illegal?
