I understand. My point was that anyone in NYC who isn’t employed today either: (1) doesn’t want to work, (2) is unable to work, or (3) is only capable of working a menial job that may not be in high demand. I don’t think there are too many poor, unemployed lawyers and CPAs in AOC’s district.

They’ll be so busy dealing with her and the Moslem gals that they won’t have time for any real legislative moves.

I think ANY big corporation demands tax breaks in order to have headquarters in big cities so this isn’t surprising..but commie Cortez strikes again

All of this happening at the same time NYS is begging business to come to the start, giving large tax breaks and incentives to new businesses started in the state, realizing its budget will shortfall in the future, and while battling wealth flight out of the state.

They can go frack themselves! :-)

“Anything is possible: today was the day a group of dedicated, everyday New Yorkers & their neighbors defeated Amazon’s corporate greed, its worker exploitation...

Decoder ring time:

How Democrats liberate New Yorkers: ruining their schools so they have no skills, keeping then surviving on government largess and telling them if they vote for anyone else they will starve.
How corporations exploit New Yorkers: Giving them jobs.

Her blabbing on the issue was all over the place. I would have expected nothing less.

3b in subsidies, certainly on the back of the tax payers. 25,000 100k jobs is an influx of $2.5 billion into the community....every year.

While I am not a fan of govt subsidy to private business, it happens all the time. Just about every sports stadium, etc. and most business expect some level of tax benefits when moving to a new area.

AOC doesn’t like it because she know most of her constituents are not capable of filling these jobs and the workers will be imported from other areas and the racial make-up would also not be to her liking.

Anyone who disagrees, please consider this. Why should the government be subsidizing any private business?

You are correct. Government should never favor one citizen over another.

This is not part of Cortex's calculus however. She believes business is evil and bigger business is a bigger evil. Corporate greed. Worker oppression. All that horsesh*t.

All these tax breaks are just part of state's recruiting new, major business investment. One of the first large incentive packages that was severely criticized was offered by former Governor Jim Folsom of Alabama, to Mercedes-Benz.

Folsom succeeded in luring the MB plant to Alabama and that has had one of the greatest returns ever as the plant has expanded several times since.

Part of the game now.

Attacking Bezos personally is fatal for a Dem. Look for some investigating reporting from the WP on AOC.

I guess Occasional showed Amazon where they could put their 25,000 jobs.

But hey she saved NYC $3B in tax subsidies. Of course NYC wasn’t going to get those taxes without the deal, so she saved them $0.
And it only cost NYC 25,000 jobs at $40,000 = $1 Trillion in salaries. NYC income taxes are a little less than 4% so it cost them $40B in income taxes. And the sales tax is 4.5%. So let’s say 20% of $1 Trillion in income would have been spent in a way that incurred sales taxes, that’s 200B * .045 = $9B.

Good Job Occasional...you cost NYC $1T in personal income, $40B in income taxes and $9B in Sales Taxes.

I can’t think of a more fitting way to pay back the people who voted for you.

I wonder what position she would have taken if the company at issue were in the “clean energy” business.

Now Amazon can go not pay taxes elsewhere but create 23,000 new high-paying jobs. Not to mention, Amazon was going to repave the shitty streets of LIC and build new transportation in and out of the area. AND attract dozens of other new businesses to the area.

I thought Amazon was an ultra-liberal corporation. Jeff Bezos is liberal, anyway. What did he/they do to offend Ms. Occasional-Cortex?
