None dare call it treason: Dem govs pull Natl Guard from border, opening U.S. to a wave of invasions
The National Sentinel ^ | 2/12/19 | J. D. Heyes

Americans who continue to hold out hope that Leftist Democrats are going to compromise with POTUS Donald Trump and Republicans over border security legislation that includes funding adequate enough to construct the kind of physical fencing or walls necessary to thwart illegal immigration and drug smuggling are living in a fantasy world.

It’s not going to happen.

Never mind that once upon a time Democrats appeared to support border security when they voted for legislation that funded the construction of hundreds of miles of fencing and substantial barriers. That was then. The Democratic Party today is not the same as it was even just a few years ago. Today, it is openly anti-American, brazen in its disdain not just for the president but the legions of voters who put him in office.

Yes.

Another thing...the National Guard are routinely paid by the Army and the Air Force, not by the states. When a state wants to use them for a state mission (fires, floods, etc.), then they will pay.

Trump has been given his justification to declare a national emergency.

Under the U.S. Constitution, each state’s National Guard unit is controlled by the governor in time of peace but can be called up for federal duty by the president, and in a “national emergency”. The Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 forbids U.S. troops from being deployed on American soil for law enforcement.

As CIC, Trump can send Regular Troops to protect our border.

He can, under certain conditions. But he shouldn’t. It would set a bad precedence. The Guard is normally under state control, and that’s how it should be. This is an important check against tyranny from DC.

In fact, I’d like to see a law that prohibits the President from calling up the Guard, period. That power should be given to Congress.

What Trump can - and should - do is send in federal troops to replace those Guard troops.

The National Guard is probably 98% paid and equipped with federal money.

Newsom is the CC of the California Army and Air Guard. So he is constitutionally within his powers to order the Guard to cease this operation. Of course the National Guard Bureau can do things about funding levels and the POTUS can certainly direct embargoing funds. California appears to want the advantages of being both a US state and a sovereign nation at the same time with no negatives.

Maybe the Republican party ought to hire buses and load the illegals up at the border and drop them off in front of the Governor’s mansion and tell them that is where they can stay tonight.
