Germans have an increasingly negative view of the relationship between their country and the US, a survey released on Friday indicated, with many seeing China as a more reliable partner.
Just over 42 percent of Germans who took part in the study said they saw China as a more reliable partner than the US, compared with 23.1 percent who favored the US over China.
The study was carried out by the research organization Civey and the not-for-profit group Atlantik-Brücke (Atlantic Bridge), which promotes greater cooperation between the US and Germany.
In the survey summary, Michael Werz, from the Center for American Progress think tank and a member of the Atlantik-Brücke board, said that despite all legitimate criticism of the current US government, Germans should not let anti-American sentiment blind them to the dangers emanating from the authoritarian systems of Russia and China.
Some 85 percent of Germans have a negative or very negative opinion of current US-German relations, with only just over 10 percent viewing them in a positive light.

I worry a lot about what Germans think of America.
Well, they did have a certain affection for the moose limbs during WWII.
When all those heinies were cheering for Obama, I knew they werent friends of The United States.
Isn’t it time we withdraw our troops from Germany?
No...the Germans have been our enemies for over 100 years. It’s just being “discovered” again.
wonder what they’d think of us if we stomped them a third time?
some people are just stuck on stupid it seems. IMO.
Only as long as we can station them in an adjacent friendly country. The last thing we need is their dream of a EU military becoming reality.
What was that old saw about keeping the Russians out, Americans in and the Germans down?
They are just expressing the views of their Muslim majority now.
That was Lord Ismay’s description of the purpose of NATO.
Germany is chafing to dismantle NATO, particularly via things like the Nord Stream Pipeline and other cooperative initiatives with their big neighbor to the eastin spite of their big rhetoric to the contrary.
Who cares about the Germans and their totally f-ed up country!! Mr RooRoo and I spent two weeks in Germany last fall, this country obviously is in a lot of trouble, its becoming a third world sh*thole.
Germany has disliked the US for decades because we kicked their @sses in two world wars and they know we could do it again if we had to. They are one hundred percent jealous of the United States.
Germany is also being overwhelmed and destroyed by African and middle eastern (Muslim) refugees.
Two recent and very telling polls of the German people: 75 percent said I dont recognize my country anymore. 38 percent said I just want to leave Germany, that is, they dont think their country is worth staying and fighting for anymore.
About 25 years past time. We should have totally withdrawn within 5 years of the wall coming down.
I think Churchill said the Germans were simultaneously the smartest and dumbest people on the planet.
The Japanese didn’t trust the Germans when they were allies. Can any asian nation?
They are living under elected former East Germans... is there any wonder those defeated and resurrected by the USA would not succumb to socialist Russian style propaganda? Good luck with the China love. Once they and French finalize their EU military farce, “ALL IS LOST” can be the new German “1945” national motto.
Don’t underestimate what the EU military can become. They’ve plotted that for decades.
they are also very easily led. They loved to be ordered around.
There is something wrong with a country that spawned the Nazi scourge. I couldn’t care less what Germany thinks or wants and their cars suck too. Volkswagen proved that we are viewed as prey.
