Inside the secret Republican plot to take down Trump in 2020 - (Wednesday Laugh)
The Washington Examiner ^ | February 5, 2019 | David M. Drucker

Renegade Republicans determined to eject President Trump from the White House in 2020 share a commitment to the cause but are split on strategy and realistic about their long-shot prospects.

Former John McCain aides, members of Evan McMullin's independent 2016 presidential campaign, disgruntled neocons, and establishment GOPers — the only thing they agree on is a loathing of Trump.

No primary challenger has yet come forward. John Kasich, former Ohio governor, has said he couldn't beat Trump. Jeff Flake, who stepped down as a senator for Arizona when it became clear he would be beaten by pro-Trump forces in his primary, has taken himself out of the running.

The brightest hope right now is Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, who last year became the first Republican governor to be re-elected in the deep-blue state, with a 13-point margin.

Mostly based in Washington, the "Never Trump" crowd comes in roughly three factions. First is those convinced fielding a primary challenger is the most viable game plan. Second is those inclined to back an independent candidate. A third group advocates for a unifying center-left Democrat — similar to the sort of centrist who captured suburban Republican voters in the midterm elections.

But the blocs are friendly, with some key operatives moving back and forth between them and willing to back whichever approach emerges as the most feasible. Meetings often hosted by Niskanen Center, a conservative think tank that has positioned itself as a headquarters for Republicans opposed to Trump.

Veteran Republican consultant Mike Murphy is among them. “I’m talking to some ‘Never Trumpers’ about an alert-effort to make sure Republican regulars are paying the attention they ought to, so that they start thinking pragmatically about a wipeout in 2020 and what we ought to do about it,” Murphy told the Washington Examiner.

Murphy...

If the remnants of the “Never Trump” coalition really wanted to do real damage to Trump that would help elect a Democrat in 2020, they would persuade Sen. Ted Cruz to run against Trump again in the primary. He could “Out-Trump” Trump. But the problem is they cannot mention the name “Ted Cruz” without spluttering into insane babble.

Former John McCain aides, members of Evan McMullin’s independent 2016 presidential campaign, disgruntled neocons, and establishment GOPers ... John Kasich, Jeff Flake ...

The beginnings of a list of people who need to be pushed completely out of the discussion.

Not one of the douchenozzles named here had a hope in Hades of “taking down” Trump. McTurd was particularly pathetic, McMuffin never attracted any significant number of votes, and the Mailman managed to win won primary.

A better story would be how utterly ineffective these dicknipples have been.

Don’t laugh, Bush League Republicans still dominate the party. They are still hell bent on completing the Bush Plan for North Mexico (aka USA).

Alexander, Graham, McSally, Murkowsky, Hoeven, Rubio, Tillis, Burr, Lankford, Gardner, Cornyn, Hyde-Smith, Collins, Sasse, Kennedy, Shelby, Blunt, McConnell, Wicker, Portman, Isakson, Johnson, Toomey, Rounds, Thune, Gaines, Barasso and Enzi are all Bush League Republicans.

2020 is simple for Trump. Build the wall, you win. Don’t build the wall, you lose.

Did anyone else notice the Turtle seemed to be even more dour and low-energy during SOTU speech than is his normal demeanor? Also, McConnell made no effort to shake Trump’s hand after the speech. The Turtle must go!!

They would persuade Sen. Ted Cruz to run against Trump again in the primary.

After sulking for a few months, Ted's been on very good behavior since his blatant attempt to use shenanigans to steal the nomination. He accepts who the alpha dog is these days and does not want another beat down...

put simply, the GOP does not have a better, more likely to win.. candidate than PDJT for 2020 (should he wish to run, of course)

the likes of Kasich and Flake...? Ridiculous to even discuss, consider them.... Political Jokes.

As the counties around the country begin to elect State GOP chairs, it is time to remind them that we don't want or need the NRCC, NRSC, or Chamber of Commerce, deciding our candidates or our platform.

The grass roots need to elevate our conservative social agenda and protect our sovereignty.

I’m more interested in what’s happening on the Dem side. Two days in a row, they’ve gone after Tulsi Gabbard, who I think is their most attractive candidate. They’re trying to turn her into a neo-Nazi because David Duke endorsed her. Why are they trying to bring her down?

2020 is simple for Trump. Build the wall, you win. Don’t build the wall, you lose.

That is what the Democrats believe, which is why they are fighting so hard against it. Why are you are buying into their playbook? But the fight is actually making the Democrats look stupid and unreasonable not President Trump. The longer this drags out, the more it makes President Trump look like the responsible adult and the Democrats look like petulant, agenda driven children. President Trump wins no matter how it goes.

Basically all of us want the wall, but we are not forgetting all the other great accomplishments this administration has already achieved. How can it not put a smile on your face when you think of President Trump's nominee getting a spot on the Supreme Court and the 9th Circuit Court dominated by conservatives? Liberal heads will be exploding everywhere.

Ted Cruz would not fare any better against Trump than he did the first time. I like Cruz but first of all, he is not eligible to run, and secondly he just doesn’t have the star power to win!

If the Republicans join the Dims in the court actions and the Bush/NeverTrumper/Deep State destroy Trump’s re-election in 2020, there will be no forgiveness, there will be no amnesty. There will be no more reluctant, hold my nose votes for the R’s because they are slightly better than the Dims. It will be on against both parties for the countries survival, there will be no forgiveness EVER!
