CHICAGO — "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett has refused to turn over his cellphone to detectives, who are investigating the alleged attack that sent him to the hospital earlier this week, Chicago police said Thursday.
The actor declined to share telephone records that could show he was speaking with his manager just as the alleged assault happened early Tuesday morning in Chicago, police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told NBC News.

From a story I read, he was talking to his agent at the time, and the agent "vouched" that he heard MAGA.
I'd consider that great evidence to bolster his case.
So why not produce it, and make everyone calling hoax eat crow?
And WHY ask the responding cops to turn off their body cams?
I'd like to see the bleached clothing and the noose that he KEPT WEARING for 45 minutes.
BTW, the released photos of "persons of interest" are about as worthless as you can possibly get.

I'm not supporting this clown in any way, but if you give your cell phone to police and authorize them to search it, ANYTHING found on there is fair game. I also wouldn't trust the police. If they found something damning, who's to say that info wouldn't get out to the local media? If the pillars of justice at the DOJ and FBI do it, then sure-as-shit, the local police do it too.

All this is getting in the way of law enforcement doing their real job . . .protecting the public. . .plus this is costing the taxpayer’s plenty.
Why was he talking to his agent at two am? He said that the guys recognized him before attacking. How can you recognize someone in -20F weather? Its dark and everyone is likely wearing face masks and hats, ear muffs etc. Oh and trump supporters just happened to have bleach and rope with them at 2 am. What a joke, hope he goes to jail.
This case is so easy to solve.
All the Cops have to do is check their Concealed Bleach Carry Permit records and start interviewing the People on the List.
Seems more likely that he used a hook-up app to meet someone when he supposedly was out just to get a sandwich (aren’t there delivery apps in Chicago?). Maybe two guys showed up and rolled him which would be embarrassing, so he decided to play the race and phobia cards which makes him a martyr and not a schnook.
Why can’t the police just check the manager’s phone and get the call records for both?

WAS he treated at the hospital? And if so, for what? How did he get there? Did he call 911? Sorry - just trying to catch up!
